"[Mixtape] Rakeem Miles – “Depression”"

Depression is the new mixtape from the very talented Rakeem Miles of Organic Geniuses, a world-wide hip-hop collective. Rakeem, from Baltimore, MD, takes it back old school in this mixtape with a boom bap production made popular in the late 80’s and early 90’s (he even titles his song, “Boom Bap” in honour). What makes Depression even greater is Rakeem’s courageous tackling of some very serious subjects: In “Intro”, it’s historical racism; in “World”, it’s the stereotypes of race and violence; “Humanity and Soul” is about abandonment and the importance of brotherhood, and “Views of Society” highlights the need for equality. While Depression is a laid-back mixtape, it really makes you think about the situations going on around you in society.

Rakeem Miles really does something great with this mixtape. It isn’t just a reflection of his talent- it’s a message about some of the most critical issues going on in communities, society, and the world overall. He uses, as he says in “World”, his musical platform to get the message of racial equality and societal reform heard.

I recently got off the phone with his manager and Rakeem will be doing alot of work with my business MMG and Genius so make sure to remember his name. Here’s some songs, - Rap Genius

"Rakeem Miles shares video for 'You Can't Stop Me'"

O.G Tribe's Rakeem Miles has released a video for his Weirdfeeling-produced track, 'You Can't Stop Me'. The young rhymer has steadily been gathering props and followers since the release of his 2013 Depression project, and rightfully so.

With a fresh outlook and style (seen wearing the UK brand Lazy Oaf in the video) Rakeem has just dropped his sophomore Adderall project via iOne Records. Watch the video above. - The 405

"Stream Rakeem Miles’ Album “Adderall”"

After Premiering his music video for “Can’t Stop Me” here on BLUNTIQ, Maryland lyricist Rakeem Miles whets the audible appetite with this album ‘Adderall‘, his sophomore release. Live instruments provide the back-drop while Rakeem Miles spills painfully honest lyrics reflecting the modern-day angst that this creative individual encounters on the daily. Self preservation is the key as the young up-and-coming rhymer maneuver through the treacherous landscape of contemporary life. The OG Tribe’s trademark ambiguous lyrical content takes a back-seat on ‘Adderall’ as Miles gives personal accounts of days gone by paired with thoughts for the future. The raw production captures the listener as the track’s organ tones bellow, adding to that unique quality that that sets Rakeem Miles above the rest. ‘Jazz’ is a soulful and candid account from an artist on the up, a worthy lead single taken from Rakeem’s forthcoming album, ‘Adderall‘. This album has production from Weird Inside, Slom, Howie Wonder, 87 Collective, and LifeStream. Check out this exciting project. Stream the Album below. - Bluntiq

"“Can’t Stop Me Now” – Rakeem Miles"

With an extra spring in his step, Organic Geniuses member Rakeem Miles offers brevity and confidence with a spirited anthem in the new video for “Can’t Stop Me Now.” The hook sung by the rapper himself and the cheery instrumental make this pithy production one that is incredibly hard not to replay. “Can’t Stop Me” comes off of Miles’ recent LP, Adderall.

"Rakeem Miles – Do They Really Love You?"

Sounding a out as tortured as ever, Rakeem Miles belts out (“will you just love me?”).

Silo, who crafted the songs production, set the downbeat mood perfectly. Miles continues to find these classic yet modern beats that feed right into his topics; I’m almost as impressed by that as I am the song itself.

Do They Really Love You? sounds small scale. It’s not a massive undertaking, but it could be a hard, yet rewarding listen for anyone who relates to Miles’ questions and statements (“They don’t really know me”). That wont be a small crowd, either. And the rest will understand and appreciate, even still. - BrainBandits

"Jazz X Rakeem Miles Featuring Matt Granpap (STREAM)"

OG Tribe continue to grow from strength to strength. This time Delaware’s Rakeem Miles steps up with a candid gem lifted from his excellent, forthcoming “Adderall” album. Sharing is caring. Spread the word about this guy. Adderall drops Feb 2015 on iOne Records. Get your pre-order on. BOOOM. - broke and famous

"Rakeem Miles zveřejnil první singl z nového alba"

Když si album předobjednáte, získáte tři songy předem. Za první singl se však považuje "Jazz". Rakeem a Matt Granpap, kolegové z OG Tribe a nyní i labelu, zde nabízí bolestně upřínou lyriku. - bbarak

"Organic Geniuses – ‘Tribe Of Mass Killas’"

intercontinental group OG Tribe dropped their 19-track Tribe Of Mass Killas project recently – a well structured, unmixed collection of songs that showcase the tribe’s lyrical flexibility with varied styles and keen ears for dope beats. With tribe members hailing from the Midwest, East Coast, and the UK, the group together provides a well-balanced combination of flows and styles. Organic Geniuses’, Mike Melione, Rakeem Miles, Avant Garde and YoAstrum among others make vocal contributions to the OG’s best project to date. Tongue-in-cheek raps with razor sharp delivery bless the project. “It’s the tribe for your minds!” - Pot Holes In My Blog

"‘Digital Discoveries’ a Deep Project Featuring KL Ikon Jetpack Jones & Many More"

The world today is a different place than it was even five years ago. The proliferation of Twitter in the music scene has changed the way we discover and create music. It’s also allowed worldwide collaboration that only the biggest stars could do before.

Enter Digital Discoveries — an aptly-titled compilation album curated by Melvin Anthony Rodriguez. Featuring numerous artists spanning multiple states and several genres, and connected by nothing other than their passion for connecting through music.

The project goes from mild to wild. The mild starts with Kweku Collins‘ earthy “Tree of Life” and carries on with William Bolton‘s “Dream at Night,” while LA’s hip-hop queen P.O.P.E. shows her “Passive Aggression” on one of the project’s strongest recordings.

Devin Miles kicks it up to another level on “Silent Killer” and Karmaloop Ikon Jetpack Jones keeps it revving on “Alright” — but the album’s biggest turn-up track comes in the form of “Wolf in Sheeps Clothing” by Allah.

For a compilation project with no overarching themes or sounds, Digital Discoveries manages to somehow stay remarkably connected. Credit Rodriguez for a well-ordered tracklist with energy that ebbs and flows effortlessly, without a song ever seeming out-of-place. Check out these songs and others from Digital Discoveries below. - Karma Loop

"Organic Geniuses – Tribe of Mass Killas"

Although the group is composed of members from all over the globe (MD, London, NJ, DE), Rakeem Miles, Mike Melinoe, YoAstrum, Tino Apex, Avant Garde, CashJay, Hijayy, and Matt Granpap have one goal in common when they come together as the Organic Geniuses-destroy all opposition. The compilation works with various sounds, including freestyles over familiar beats, giving you an idea of the personal preferences of each emcee. This isn’t straight gun toting Hip-Hop. It’s more Freestyle Fellowship’s dexterity meets M.O.P.’s energy. And it’s good to see that the art of the skit hasn’t died out with projects from yesteryear. You can also support one of their emcees, Mike Melinoe, with his upcoming project - The Source

those that are all too familiar with the same unfortunate upbringing.
