RICKY FUGITT - BIO Growing up under the influence of artists such as George Strait and Chris Ledoux, Ricky Fugitt is a huge fan of country music and all that comes with being a musical artist. As a child, Ricky and his father attended stock shows and rodeo events where the post rodeo concerts inspired him to pursue becoming a performer. From his early performances at VFW halls to acoustic shows at local opry houses, country music has always defined him. Ricky put his first band together while attending college. It was then that he realized that there was more to being an artist than just standing behind a microphone and singing. It was at this point in his life when he began exploring songwriting. He got his first taste of what a real band could be with the group Last Call, which was based in Kansas City. Gathering momentum in his career, Ricky cut his teeth performing in bars, fairs and rodeos. Ricky began writing about these experiences and became intrigued by the Texas music scene and the atmosphere that surrounded it. He knew in his heart that this is where he would fit in. Ricky's real breakthrough came in the summer of 2008 when he wrote a song entitled 'Red Dirt Music' which was picked up by radio stations throughout Texas and Oklahoma and was later released on the album Better by the Ounce in 2009. With his fan base continuing to grow, he also had his first sponsor jump on board. Ranch Style Rodeo Wear Co., based in California, has been a great business partner as well as an overall supporter. Ricky has opened for acts such as Jason Boland, Jackson Taylor, Mark McKinney, Kurt South, Mike McClure, Kevin Fowler, Daryl Singletary, Phil Hampton & the Backroad Drifters and Vallejo. Today Ricky is still playing when and wherever he can. He has begun touring KS/TX/OK/MO/AR with a new road band that features seasoned veteran players from the Oklahoma & Texas Music Scene. Ricky has also recently signed to Oklahoma Indie Red Dirt Label 'Cimsound Records', and is working with Producer/Engineer Jeff Parker (Cross Canadian Ragweed, Jason Boland), on his first studio album set for release for fall 2011. Playing country music most of his life Ricky began singing anywhere there was a spot to sing...growing up with a rodeo and country influence Ricky has found a sound of his own.
