Robert Kimbrough, Sr., the youngest son of Cotton-Patch Soul Bluesman Junior
Kimbrough, pays tribute to the great music of Robert’s late father.
Robert Kimbrough Sr. Blues Connection’s hypnotic sound is a melodic
combination of traditional Cotton Patch Blues, post-electric jams with
smooth, soulful vocals. Steeped in the Blues his whole life, Robert
began playing guitar at age five. He learned to play all night alongside
his father, Junior, The Original Soul Blues Boy, at house parties and
picnics. In 1995 Robert joined his father and brothers at “Junior’s
Place” an infamous juke joint in Chulahoma, MS, where he played
regularly until 2000, when the club closed due to a fire. Robert
continues to gain musical momentum. Robert has played many festivals and
launched the Kimbrough Cotton Patch Blues Festival in Holly Springs,
MS. Robert continues to gain musical momentum. The love of his father and his father's music is the force that drives him.
