Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Duca.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started singing when I was seven years old. My grandpa asked my parents to turn on the tv because he wanted us to see this 16-year-old Canadian jazz singer. So we turned on the TV, and I started singing along with her to a song called I Got Rhythm by Ella Fitzgerald.

My parents were blown away, and my dad went crazy and bought microphones, speakers and all of this other equipment. From that day, I’ve always been singing, and it is my passion. However, when I started writing my own music, I was eight and my first song was titled Roller Coaster of Life. From there I discovered another passion which was songwriting.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, I would say it’s been smooth in my music career. Of course, there have been little things along the way that were frustrating, but other than that it never changed my feelings about music and how much I want to pursue it.

One of the downsides I had was when I didn’t make it past the Las Vegas round when I was on Americas Got Talent around eight years old. But other than that I have very supportive parents who want to see me succeed in the business.

We always joke around saying that a lot of other parents and their musical kids come up with a plan B just in case they aren’t successful in the music industry. But with my parents, we always say that there is just one plan and it’s music, and always will be. I know that there is going to be a lot of struggles in the future though, and am trying to prepare myself as best I can.

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am a singer-songwriter. There is nothing I love more than creating music and singing. I’ve always been extremely passionate about songwriting and have been to many songwriting conventions to learn more about my craft.

I believe what sets me apart from others, are my messages. I try to take a different approach on common things people go through. I think honesty is super important in lyrics.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
One of my favorite memories as a child was putting on shows for my family with my cousin. We would always put Michael Jackson on and dance around.
