Rainy Day At Big Ticket Festival: Ionia MichiganPosted By from June 24, 2011We had a bit of a rough day yesterday at Big Ticket. It rained and rained…and then it rained and rained some more. It was the muddiest show of the year so far. We started our set at 6:15pm with an intro to “The Way The World Turns” where Pete plays piano and Matt stands in the crowd and has everyone sing along with him. Mark and I come in with a rhythm and beat and the whole thing builds to a final, ringing chord that hangs until Chris comes in with the lead guitar to start the actual song…except that Chris’s guitar amps were drenched from the rain and blew up. Smoke and everything. When he went to play the part, nothing came out. Just crackles, pops, and frustration. We stood there for the next two years feeling like chumps while guys worked to get Chris a new amp. Once everything was working, the show went smoothly and we had a good time, except that we ran out of time and didn’t get to play “Forgiven” at the end of our set. Anyway, if you were at Big Ticket, click here to tag yourself in the photo. Another good part of the day; we got to hang out with our friends in Leeland. They just finished their new album, which sounds phenomenal. Seriously. I think it’s coming out in September, so get ready… Anyway, we had a good day at Big Ticket despite the chaos of our set. Thanks to everyone who stuck it out through the rain and mud. Hope to see you again next year. Catch ya later dan |
