UNITED TOUR ALL STARS

Posted By from May 29, 2010

We spent most of May on the road with David Nassar, Jonny Diaz, and Mikeschair for Holt International’s United Tour.  Good times have been had by all, but just as good times always do, they’ve come to an end.  Today was our last day together.

We just finished up our day in Valparaiso Indiana, and in my few, small experiences with the town, I like it a lot.  This is probably because Valparaiso is hometown of the man, the myth, the legend: Orville Redenbacher.  I’ve always thought of him as the bridge between KFC’s Colonel Sanders and PBS’s Mr. Rogers.  He’s technically a food guy, but I’m sure he’d make a really great neighbor.  Maybe I’ll call him “Kernel neighborbacher?”

Zing!

That was terrible and embarrassing, but still I typed it.

Anyway, some brief highlights from the tour:

Playing Cornhole (aka “bags”) with Mikeschair.
If you’re from a cornhole state, you know it’s a great backyard game where you try to toss corn-filled bags through a hole in a wooden box.  If you’re not from a cornhole state, I’m sorry, it probably just sounds like something really weird, and you might be slightly uncomfortable right now.  Tonight as an end-of-the-tour prank, they set a game up on stage and played it during “We Need Each Other.”  Pete made one in.  Matt was at the front of the stage and had no clue any of it was happening.  Classic.

Watching the series finale of LOST.
This is the band’s favorite show, and it’s provided our little family with 6 years of quality entertainment. We’re sad to see it go.

Trying out P90x.
I’ve been getting, as Tony Horton phrases so eloquently in the dvd, “gooey.”  Time to voluntarily beat myself up with his workout program.  PS…It’s hard.

Chris bought an iPad.
Turns out, it’s a pretty cool little gadget.  We play pinball on it.  Chris is kicking my butt.

That’s about it for now.  The summer season is here.  Hope to see you at a festival soon!
