Local talent at Septemberfest

There will be much local musical talent represented at this year's Septemberfest in Schaumburg..........
The professional local rockers of Second Time Around will open for Gin Blossoms on the final evening of Septemberfest, performing from 5 to 6:15 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 6.
Some of the band's favorite selections include "Hush" by Deep Purple, "Funk No. 49" by the James Gang and "I've Seen All Good People," by Yes. While their emphasis is classic rock of the '60s and '70s, they also play such blues-based hits as "Sweet Home Chicago," "It Hurts Me Too" and "Move it on Over."
The band's nine members come from throughout the Northwest suburbs, including vocalists Jim Allen and Angie Fridono of Inverness and Toni Callahan of Tower Lakes.
The lead guitarists are John Tow of Palatine and Al Hamilton of North Barrington. Drummer Scott Godsey hails from Lake Zurich.
Bassist Steve Fahrner lives in Palatine and keyboard player Joel Dalsky in Marengo.
John Fridono of Inverness is not only the founder and leader of the group, and is its acoustic-slide guitar and harmonica player.
Other acts taking the main stage throughout the weekend are The Ides of March featuring Jim Peterik from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and The Buckinghams from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 4; and 7th Heaven from 6 to 7:15 p.m. and Foghat from 8:30 to 10 p.m. Sept. 5.

Second Time Around (STA) is a Chicago area cover band from the northwest suburbs, playing music of many styles, but primarily, classic rock from the late 60's, 70's and 80’s. Formed in 2005, Second Time Around has entertained a wide range of audiences with a total "live classic rock experience" and "no backing tracks."
A legendary music catalog, showmanship and musicality sets STA apart from other bands. The music we perform has been selected based on two major criteria, an interest in the original song and our ability to reproduce that song as authentically as possible with no backing tracks or enhancements. With 9 seasoned musicians, featuring 3 lead vocalists, who's harmonic specialties allows them to cover songs by The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Styx, The Doobie Brothers, Boston, REO, Kansas, Yes, The Rolling Stones, Motown and more, STA vocalists can also replicate stellar solo numbers like "White Rabbit" by Grace Slick of the Jefferson Airplane and "Desperado" by Don Henley of The Eagles like none you have ever heard.
A review of our song list will show that we have chosen songs that are both easily recognizable yet unique and interesting. With the ability to select from a wide variety of styles and groups STA can structure its set list to the occasion. When performing at an outdoor fest, we select songs that are more musically intricate, may require special instrumentation such as harmonica, laude or slide guitar, or vary in tempo to catch the attention of the crowd. At a restaurant/lounge/club establishment, we structure the set to concentrate on higher energy songs to attain a party atmosphere. While most of our venues are 90 minutes, we have performed for as little as 30 minutes on up to 4 hours.
