From West Africa to the Americas (or anywhere else, for that matter) music brings people together as one. Wontonara combine the traditional Mandingue music of West Africa with influences from throughout the Caribbean. Centered around traditional Mandingue instrumentation, including the Kora, Balafon, Djembe, and Krin, and with members hailing from both Guinea, West Africa and the northeastern United States, this Burlington, VT based collective of musicians brings a celebration wherever they perform. This is party music, and life is the occasion. Come, join the family.
As Wontonara means in the Soso language: “We Are Together.”
