Shonzarelly Bio

Louisiana rapper Shonzarelly is as cool as his name suggests. Yet, his style is hot enough to fit the signature sound that has made Baton Rouge one of hip-hop's favorite places since Young Bleed in the mid 90’s. For that reason, Shonzarelly southern drawl sounds familiar, even though it’s uniquely his own. Judging by is easygoing and laidback persona, one would never take him for such a performer. His confidence and stage presence give him a star quality that surpasses music. However, hailing from Baton Rouge, instead of New Orleans, there weren’t as many opportunities in the industry when he started pursuing music. So, Shon became a product of his environment, and unfortunately, spent his youth in and out of jail. The Third World section of North Baton Rouge, (particularly in the section known as Banks) is no walk in the park. Even prior, he was inspired to rap at a house party, when his brother, Mitch, took the mic. He love for music grow, and music became Shonzarelly’s escape from the madness. His stepfather, best known by Cadillac, was an avid music listener. Cadillac kept classics from the 40’s through the 80’s jammin, from noon to night, day in and day out. After an inspiring day at the party, he later teamed up with his brother, and two of his cousin to formed a group called Blood’s Thicker Than Water; and even gained the attention of Cash Money Records, at the time when Soldier Rag was the biggest indie album out and Young Buck was still on the roster. Unfortunately, being what Shonzarelly described himself as, “hard-headed”, landed him in prison again, and again. His producer at the time, Greg Dukes, gave up on him, and the disappointment led him to give up on his dream. He went back to hustling and working to make ends meet. Oddly enough it took a negative to make a positive and inspire him to get back on it. The flood of 2016 was, the catalyst to his decision to go a and he did some work as a member of the Section Boyz, a group that has great potential, but couldn’t find the break they needed in the business. Through the Section Boyz he met E.P. (@PlayaPizzle on IG), and became a force to be reckoned with. Around the same time he got back in contact with his long time friend, Kano Da Don, and joined the Good Vibe Family which helped him gain a lot of knowledge and exposure. Not to mention the lit single “Swagging My Step”, produced by Mouse On The Track, catching ears throughout the south. In early 2019, his song, Migo, was featured on the Savage Ties Mixtape, alongside, Webbie, Boosie, and members of Trill Fam. The best part about it all is, Shon remains humble and driven. 2019 represent the real beginning for Shonzarelly. And with no ending in the plan, he’s destined to be a force from that raggedy; Jigga City that is...
