Bio
Signs Point East fuses their mainstream-rock sound with the wide variety of musical genres that make up the Metro Area music scene. The Maryland-based rock band incorporates elements of jam-rock, hard-rock, funk, grunge, hip-hop and folk-rock into their set, providing a musical experience that encapsulates that one-of-a-kind East Coast sound.
Their first EP, Back to the Start (2013), was produced by Craig Dreyer and Mighty Toad Studios in Brooklyn, New York and recorded entirely to analog tape using Studer 820 24-track and Studer 810 2-track recorders. Signs Point East chose to bypass the common crutch of digital manipulation and record directly to tape because they believe in the power of raw, natural sound.
In December of 2013, Signs Point East won the Gorilla Music – Baltimore “Battle of the Bands”, hosted at Ottobar, by an overwhelming majority vote. SPE was also awarded the #3 slot on the Frederick News Post’s Top Ten Local Musical Impacts of 2013 list. They are currently in pre-production for a new recording to be announced soon.
