"Song Review"

For Z.B. and crew, life has never been too complicated. The Indiana emcee has one goal in mind when it comes to making it in this game, and that’s to make as much money as he can while doing it with the people he cares about the most. Over a Danny EB production, he brings Sprove along with him on a “Pimp Walk”, where he’s calling out all those broke pretenders who don’t qualify as a “Person Into Making Pesos”. The message is pretty straight forward and if you haven’t picked it up by now, you probably qualify as one of those people. His next release, “Just Another”, is on the way, but in the meantime, sit back and enjoy this one. - Justin Brown Music

"Quick Q&A: Up-And-Coming US Rapper Sprove"

'THE VOICE' speaks to the Indianapolis-born rapper Sprove as he prepares to enter the limelight.

Q: Tell us more about your upbringing and how you got into music...

A: Well, my friends and I used to freestyle when I was about 13 years-old, but it wasn’t until I got to college and got into a fraternity that I started to pursue rapping more. Whilst I was in the fraternity, I created a Kappa mixtape, which got a lot of attention and people we’re saying “Yo, you should really try that”, and I decided to pursue it further. At the time, I was going to medical school, but once the rapping thing came, I felt like it was time to do something that made sense – I’ve always been an entertainer and had the talent of rapping, but I never thought about taking it seriously until people started pushing me in that direction.

Q: What made you decide to study medicine initially?

A: My passion has always been to help people and change lives, and that was one way of doing it. Originally I was planning to be an anaesthesiologist, but I was mainly going in for the money. It was just something I knew I could do if I put my mind to it, but I wasn’t into it.

Q: How did you deal with juggling college and a music career?

A: It was very hard. I wanted to drop out so bad, but because it was the second semester of my junior year when I realised that I wanted to pursue a rapping career, I felt it was important to stick through it, since I was almost done. Also, I knew that I was doing this to make my mom happy – I wasn’t about to leave college and have to pay these student loans with no degree, so it was important for me to finish.

Q: So not too long ago, you released your EP Treading Waters. What was the overall production process for that?

A: I was in the studio pretty consistently, it only took me about three weeks to get it done. I did three studio sessions and when I go in the studio I’m always ready and know what I want to do with the song, whether it’s having the hook ready or the verse. So I’m usually always ready to go real quick.

Q: What are some of the highlights and challenges you’ve experienced so far since getting into the music business?

A: Really, it’s just the money situation. Can’t say I’m the richest dude, but I get by. I’ve put so much money into this, and now I’m getting paid for performances, features etc; and I’m starting to see the change and it all comes back full force, but it just takes time.

Q: I read that you’ve opened for acts including Young Thug and 21 Savage. What should people expect from a Sprove show?

A: Expect energy and to talk to me – I love to talk to my audience, I love eye contact and to interact. But I get everybody bouncing and energised. - The Voice Newspaper UK

Bio

Sprove, born Aaron JaVante LeSure on July 20th, 1994, is an American rapper, creative, entrepreneur, inventor, and innovator. Sprove has stirred up a lot of excitement with the single “Pacific” on his debut EP “Treading Waters”. Since releasing his EP, he has dropped 3 new singles that have put in the minds of his fans that he will be in this industry for a long time to come.

Sprove grew up on the Westside of Indianapolis, IN and is the oldest of 1 brother and 2 sisters. At the age of 13, he started with attempting to freestyle with one of his school friend, Aaron Handley, because he was always interested in music but never knew how he wanted to do it himself. Whenever Sprove would be at home, he would sit and write his songs and at this point is when he realized there was definitely a great talent hidden within himself.

While in college at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN Sprove never thought that he would make his occupation a musical artist until him and his fraternity brothers created a Kappa mixtape that received major recognition from more than 1000 people with minimal promotion. This was big at the time because this was only done out of fun. Sprove took this recognition and went about starting to create songs in his closet and releasing them on Soundcloud just to see what people thought. With this low quality music, he was still able to create a good fan base of people that pushed him to do more and keep getting better.

Much of his momentum came when he started opening up for artists like Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Shy Glizzy, Jacquees, Wale, Dae Dae, PnB Rock, Lil Bibby, Lud Foe, and many more notable artists. Sprove now headlines his own shows of which he can now hear all his fans scream every word to his songs at the top of their lungs. Every show is a movie! Much of the influence for him creating his music comes from R. Kelly, Shy Glizzy, Tupac, Wiz Khalifa. You will notice that Sprove’s genre is hard to pinpoint because he will give you a love song then turn around and give you a money counting song. He creates the waviest music out today. He is the new wave. He’s nothing like you’ve ever heard before.
