"Better Days: A Debut of Soulful Groove"

Better Days is the first single released from R&B Soul singer Cre Riggins’ EP ‘In Remission’, and it may very well be the most perfect balance of soul and groove I’ve ever slipped into.

There was a tad too much reverb added to the vocals in parts which impeded Cre Riggins’ raw vocal style from shining through Yet, Better Days is still a stellar track which won’t fail you to leave you in a blissful state of resonance as you drink in the soulfully inspired lyrics and melodically cathartic progression of the instrumentals. The use of acoustic instruments alongside digital effects gave Better Days an authentically accessible sound right from the off-beat guitar intro which pops right the way through the progression around the rattle and snares of the 808 beats.

You can check out Cre Riggins latest single Better Days for yourself by heading over to SoundCloud now, make sure to follow the singer songwriter to keep up to date with the latest drops from her EP.

Bio

Cre Riggins is a 30 year old singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Biloxi, Mississippi.  She discovered her love for music at the tender age of 6 and began writing her own songs at age 19. After high school, she moved to Fayetteville, NC looking forward to beginning her journey into adulthood. In 2010, she began performing locally at clubs and bars alike.  She even attempted to form a girl group by the name of Scarlette, consisting of her and two friends. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out as planned and the group ended shortly after it began.  In 2012, she learned that she would be giving birth to her first child, a son, with her high school sweetheart ( and now husband, Isiah Riggins).  Motherhood and the family life began to set in and she put her music on pause and went back to school. She gained her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Business in June of 2016.

That was the most trying year of her entire life. On the good side, she had finally completed school and was due to give birth to her second child, a daughter. But on the other side of things, devastation was lingering.  A few weeks before her daughter was born, her sister had come to visit her with hopes for a fresh start for her and her son. Her sister was also pregnant with her second child and she had been battling a rare disease called Scleroderma. But nobody knew how sick her sister really was. After one week of visiting, she was hospitalized and placed in ICU for intensive care. After one month of being treated in the hospital, she lost her battle with this disease and left behind another son. Cre and her husband were due to take her son in after his hospitalization in the NICU. To make matters worse, a month after her sister’s passing, Cre was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Cancer.  Who would have thought that one person could be hit with so much at one time.  In December of 2016, she began undergoing chemotherapy treatments. She began to not only lose the hair all over her body, but her confidence and dreams faded as well.  After 5 chemo infusions, radiation treatment began.

It wasn’t until after experiencing a dark bought of depression and anxiety that Cre felt determined to fight back.  She completed all of her treatments all while taking care of three young children like a champ. Treatments were exhausting but as she began to regain her energy, she began writing again. In August 2017, she was placed into remission thus came the title of her very first project “In Remission EP.”  “Before my diagnosis, I had always felt like I made a lot of life decisions based off the opinions of others.  Singing and writing is something that I had always had my heart set on but it wasn’t until I almost lost my life to realize that I needed to do things my way if I truly wanted to feel free. I felt like I finally have something to talk about through my music and I want to share that with people and help people. I want people to know that they shouldn’t be afraid of who they are. Don’t be afraid of their talents because someone is talking down on them only because they are afraid of theirs. Take steps to challenge yourself and get comfortable with being outside of your comfort zone. And most of all LOVE. Love people regardless of how different they are and you will always be at peace. Peace is in love.”
