About
Dynamic father-daughter duo, Amanda & Rob Scalici, are taking the jazz world by storm .
Born and raised in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn- Rob Scalici grew up on a musical block. He began playing the guitar at age 10, inspired by watching Neil Levang on The Lawrence Welk Show with his grandmother every Sunday night. He began taking lessons and jamming with the kids in his neighborhood. He soon discovered artists that would influence his career, such as Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, Charlie Byrd, and Andrés Segovia.
When Amanda was born, naturally Rob passed on his love of music to her. Amanda began singing at the age of 3, and was quickly drawn to musical theater. Amanda soon began listening to artists such as Doris Day, Betty Hutton, and Diana Krall.
In 2012, Amanda & Rob began collaborating, when Amanda expressed interest in starting a jazz band. They began writing original music in the fall of 2013. Amanda & Rob have a unique connection on stage. Rob’s beautifully composed arrangements perfectly match the emotions in Amanda’s passionate lyrics. They’ve been compared to Les Paul & Mary Ford, Diana Krall, and Bucky Pizzarelli.
The Scalicis have since played close to 1,000 shows together, and have toured in Florida, Georgia, Virginia, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Canada, and London. They’ve hit the stage of Rockwood Music Hall, Engelman Recital Hall, LaGuardia Plaza Hotel, Crossroads Live Music Venue, The Troubador (London), The Bull’s Head - Barnes (one of the premier jazz venues in Britain), and more.
The Scalicis have quickly become known in the digital world for their creative content and original music. Their goal is to bring the classic sound of jazz to a new generation. #JazzWillConquer
