"The Family Doom EP Review"

The Family Doom's self-titled EP release is an indie shoegazer's dream! This is an
eclectic compilation of electronic sounds and drum samples that go far beyond the
commercial norms of mainstream music. The Family Doom (band and EP) lives
somewhere between Hollywood's non-celebrity party scene and New York subway art.
For those who don't get what shoegaze is, it's truly underground alternative rock music
that relies heavily on effects and doesn't really fit the format of too many FM radio
stations in the U.S. You'll likely hear this genre on web radio and some college stations in
the upper Northwestern states.

The Family Doom's EP offers 22 minutes (5 tracks) of spaced out, neon tunes that tease
the ears with experimental combinations of warped electric guitar, muffed drum
programming, and layered Nord keyboards. The EP's opening track, Breaking Point,
almost feels like it's suspended in a time capsule where psychedic hippies veg out to
electronic audio waves. The production on this track is complex yet, minimal enough that
the lead vocal has a chance to cut through the "gaze" of hypnotic sounds. This track was
a breath of fresh air from all the mainstream pop, rock, and folk music that I've been
receiving lately.

Other tracks like "Forever Now," and "Willow B" add a lo-fi element to the project, giving
The Family Doom a truly indie flare. There are plenty of artists who call themselves indie,
but they're really just independent artists who do mainstream music. TFD on the other
hand can use the terms "indie" and "alternative" like a badge of military honor and rank.
The Family Doom is truly indie because their music may never be commercial enough for
a major record company, and 100% alternative to what you'll hear on terrestrial radio
networks. I like this band and would definitely recommend them to fans of non-traditional
rock music. - I Am Entertainment Magazine

"The Family Doom"

The Family Doom is our new favorite band of 2014. Period. They have an indie, shoegazie, electro thing going on and are playing their first L.A. show at Make Music Pasadena Fest. That is a pretty damn good start if you ask me. This is their video for “Willow B” and you can check out their e.p. here and physical copies should be out shortly according to their Facebook. So be sure to see them because they are fucking amazing. - De La Vie TV

"The Family Doom"

The Family Doom is an extremely eclectic act, centered around the figure of composer, song-writer and musician Tanner Dean.
The music owes as much to the 90s shoegaze scene (think My Bloody Valentine, Swevedriver or Slowdive) as it does to the electronic contamination brought in by artists the likes of Radiohead and The Postal Service, who brought a new dimension to the way elements of electronica (synths and drum-machines, above all) went to affect patterns and song-writing tendencies typical of alternative rock.

The Family Doom swings unpredictably from gritty, lo-fi electro-pop moments, to long psychedelic jams echoing Animal Collective or The Flaming Lips.
The sound is lush, roomy and open, yet minimal and introspective. Experience it yourself and stream the tracks below the picture! - Andrea Caccese

"The Family Doom"

Originating from Riverside, this group's music proudly boasts a sea of synthesizer sounds resonating side by side with drum machine beats and occasional vocals that effectively transfer a psychedelic energy from musicians to listener. This four piece, ominously called The Family Doom, openly name '90s shoegaze as an inspiration and are ever-present in their delivery of lo-fi electronic pop. Listening to their music will undoubtedly conjure up familiarity to other bands that employ heavy synthesizer in their songs, but the lo-fi quality of The Family Doom's tunes never takes away from its soulful vibes. - OC Weekly

Bio

The Family Doom is an extremely eclectic act, centered around the figure of composer, song-writer and musician Tanner Dean. Originally formed with the intent of being an electronic duo with drummer, Sonny Ruiz, it evolved into a full four piece live band including keyboardist Vic Steve, and bassist Will Sparrow.
The Family Doom is currently working on new music, as well as on a live installation, offering a performance in between the magic of visuals and the band's haunting atmosphere.
With their self-titled E.P. on the way, The Family Doom already have their self made music video being played in rotation on Electronik Tv on Roku and is being seen in homes all around the world.
