"Exclusive Interview: The Hi-Yahs"

First things first, I want to clarify that the Hi-Yahs is one person. He’s not a band, dj crew, or pop group. He’s a hugely talented DJ/Producer hailing from Dallas, TX. His list of accolades include playing Mad Decent Block Party, producing for Waka Flocka, a feature in Rolling Stone (Brazil) and a plethora of amazing remixes and originals supported by Tiesto, Diplo, Foreign Beggars, Bro Safari, 12th Planet, DJ Craze, Gladiator and more. On top of all this, he’s a down to earth dude who is constantly interacting with his fans in person and online. - Fuxwithit

"For Valentine's Day, rappers Black Pearls launch explosive remix of "Thinking of You""

If the original version of "Thinking of You" had dance potential, remix released this Valentine's Day (June 12) will make couples stop flirtation to fall on the dance floor.

Interview with Black Pearls video; watch

The band (which had a clip - watch below) was recreated by The Hi-Yah's. The remix adds darker layers with powerful bass.

The rappers Trio Vidigal, formed by Alice Coelho, 17, Mariana Feitosa and Jennifer Loiola, both 16, is preparing to launch a second mixtape, bringing the remixes of The Hi Yah's Tigerblood and terror. They, who until March this year had not traveled by plane, preparing to tour Europe still in 2014.

In addition to the remixed version, the Pearls have provided the original track for download on the group 's official Facebook ( here ).

"PREMIERE: OUR TIME & THE HI-YAHS – DO WIT IT (ORIGINAL MIX) [AUDIOPHILE]"

Our Time and LessThan3 favorite The Hi-Yahs let loose a menacing bass house collab Do Wit It, and we’ve got the exclusive first listen.

After debuting a similarly devious house tune with Lady Parts on LT3 in June, Dallas’ solo act The Hi-Yahs links up with Oklahoma duo Our Time (pictured) for another growling club cut and exemplary piece of modern electro house complete with a breathy custom vocal sample calling out their respective stage names. Demonstrating a firm grasp on what has become the defining characteristic of quality within the genre of late, Our Time and The Hi-Yahs infuse the modern house track with just enough wobble and sawtooth to make them central to the tune without overpowering the blend and its other ingredients. - LessThan3

"Trap Tuesday"

"Premiere: The Hi-Yahs Reinvents Major Lazer’s ‘Be Together’"

The Hi-Yahs has been killing it on the low for a few years now. The Dallas based producer first landed on our radar with his stellar remix of Crywolf and has continued to impress ever since. Able to take on any genre and make it his own, he’s dropped house heaters (‘Call Me’), Nu-Disco grooves, electro bangers and even dabbled in jungle terror. Despite the range, his most impressive efforts all seem to come when he works within the trap genre. With that said, seldom does he stick to just trap, it’s usually some unique variation that blends influences from a multitude of sources. Case in point, his latest release – a rework of Major Lazer’s ‘Be Together’.

Though it would best fit under the trap genre, it blends elements of future bass and indie dance for a forward thinking flip that’s infectious and irresistible. ‘Be Together’ features all original production excluding the stirring vocals. Even still, the vocals are bent, sped, chopped and echoed for a sound that intensifies their strength. It begins low key and sultry but builds into a powerful anthem with uplifting synths and lush bass. Rounding it out is a breakdown ripe with feels and some killer vocals chops to close things out. It’s a complete re-imagination of the track that does major justice to the original. Stream below and be sure to grab the free download. - Fuxwithit

"MOOMBAHTON MONDADAYS: 006 feat. Major Lazer, Bro Safari, UFO!, The Hi-Yahs, Torro Torro [Free Downloads]"

For our 6th edition of Moombahton Mondays, we have five funky new tracks from some of the most respected Moomabhton producers out there. Bro Safari & UFO! introduce their newest banger, “Tracers” and we stumbled upon an older remix of Autoerotique’s anthem “Turn Up The Volume” by Torro Torro and Bill The Gent (of Gent & Jawns) that we can’t stop listening to. The Hi-Yahs & Louisana Jones teamed up and released “Fire The Alarm” which can be defined as “Festival Moombahton” which is definitely a uniquely surprising track that’ll you’ll probably wind up playing at a house party. Be sure to support the artists and “Like” their Facebook page for more free downloads and other updates. - bassdownload

"The Hi-Yahs X Louisana Jones – Fire The Alarm (Original Mix)"

Fire the alarm because this isn’t the first time The Hi-Yahs (Mad Decent & LUNGR) and Louisiana Jones (Hypnotic/Low Pass Records) have teamed up! Hailing from Dallas, TX and San Diego, CA respectively, these two never fail to let down. If you’ve ever heard any track by these two, you know they uses some super outrageous samples and damn heavy bass. Both known for their trap, I’m happy to see them collab for a moombah track. I find the second break to be the highlight of this track. It almost breaks into a hip-hop beat which does not surprise one bit coming from these two. If you like lasers, mad samples, and some weird vocals, this track is for you. Enjoy! - moombroton

"Getter – Fallout (The Hi-Yahs X Tron Johnson Remix) [FREE DL]"

It’s all about that high adrenaline hype that just knocks you back and forth without any reason. With some stutter in the start, it instantly has the feeling that it’s about to get much heavier. Then, the hi-hats enter and you can feel the energy well up inside your chest, making it difficult to breathe. The synths are unique and energetic, but the build is all chill until the drops approaches. The flip to full-naked ratchet is a mesmerizing feat of synth work and drum work. The snare kills it from time to time and what eventually results is best described as “child support.” A massive remix from The Hi-Yahs and Tron Johnson. Check your radar because these two should be on it. Premiered on RTT. - Bass Monster

"Getter – Fallout (The Hi-Yahs x Tron Johnson Remix) [RTT Premiere]"

The-Hi-Yahs are back with yet another Run The Trap premiere, and this time around he brought the dude Tron Johnson in to assist with the production of this trap heater. The Hi-Yahs x Tron Johnson take the already filthy Getter – Fallout, and completely transform it into a hard hitting trap banger.. If you listen to the original version of the track, you can’t even tell it’s the same thing (aside from the ‘do you kill people?’ sample they used). The final Getter – Fallout (The Hi-Yahs x Tron Johnson Remix), can best be summarized with one word, BIG. Props to the dudes for completely taking the track to a whole different level.. Because there might be some fallout after this thing erupts on the dance floor.

Stream and download Getter – Fallout (The Hi-Yahs x Tron Johnson Remix) below, exclusive to Run The Trap readers first. Enjoy. - Run The Trap

"AUDIO : Dwight David “The Last Dragon” (The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

Shouts to The Hi-Yahs for sending this over. WOW! WOW! WOW! “The Last Dragon”???? If you remember the movie, you will remember the theme song. The Hi-Yahs took it waaaay back with this one and TRAP-ified it. Crazy! You can download this off their soundcloud for free…Enjoy!!!

"[TSS Exclusive] Big Chocolate – Blue Milk (Luke Shay X The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

We have a big remix from you today of ‘Blue Milk’. While the track isn’t really one to taken too seriously, it’s a big remix with a bangin’ kick and a good swing. The track is more of a grimy, club track with this new brand of bouncey house and electro that’s surfacing. Definetley be sure to keep up to date with these guys for future tracks.

"EDM Download: Big Chocolate “Blue Milk” (Luke Shay x The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

Big Chocolate’s “Blue Milk” has been a huge favorite of mine since its release months ago. After hearing this giant remix from Luke and The Hi-Yahs yesterday it feels like the original has been revived and turned up. I dare you to try and sit while listening to this, cause it’s about damn near impossible. So let the insane bass, addictive beat and hyped-up build take over and rock away the rest of this Wednesday.

"The Trap Dojo Volume #31 [MP3 Playlist]"

Starting off with the highly anticipated release from RL Grime & Salva, and it’s their anthem worthy remix of Jamie Lidell‘s track “What A Shame”. Next is a rip from Bro Safari‘s set at Ultra Music Festival this last weekend. It’s a VIP of KillaGaham’s insane tune “Clowns”. Hudson Mohawke has been teasing us with this track for a couple years now, so I figured it was about time to share a small clip of “Sweet Silverskin”. The Trap phenom Alex Young is here with another mind blowing release. This time he remixes BenZel‘s track “Fallin’ Love” and nails it on all levels. MR. CARMACK is without a doubt going to blow up in 2013, and this track “felt nothing today” is just one reason why. Ever since “All Gold Everything” I’ve been in love with Trinidad James, and he teams up with STORi on this track titled “Pocketbook”. Make sure not to miss the tracks from: The Hi-Yah‘s, Amati, and the minimix from Rustie. Cheers.

Adding a little bit of electronic flavor, timed agression, and low end, while keeping the feel good vibe of the track in full force. The dude (Hi-Yahs) never disappoints with his material, and that’s why we rep exclusive tunes from him for days. Make sure you check his Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (The Hi-Yahs Remix), and Lil Keke ft. "KID WOMP X THE HI-YAHS – DOMINATE"

Kid Womp and the Hi-Yahs are two outstanding, distinct rising monsters in the art of Trap. Thankfully the two have begun making trap bangers together, this being one of the first tunes they created together really shows the potential they have. This Tune starts off strong and just keeps intensifying until the very end. This is that Fast Future trap that everyone is looking for, and hopefully these two keep pumping out bangers because they are “Ready to Dominate!” So give this tune a listen and take notice, but beware the trap disease that will infect you, you will crave more and there’s no cure for this addiction.

"Kid Womp x The Hi-Yahs – Dominate"

"Kill the Noise & Feed Me- Thumbs Up (The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

The Hi-Yahs is his name, and trap is his best game. The Hi-Yahs originates from Dallas,TX, and he is a Trap DJ to look out for in 2013. This is one of the underground Trap kings (yes, there are a million trap producers now), but his trap music definitely has people turning their heads. His tracks are being used in trap mixes all over. If your looking for some new dirty trap, this is your man. Some of his music is out of the ordinary, but that makes all the more interesting to listen to! - BE The Rave

"KILL THE NOISE & FEED ME – THUMBS UP (THE HI-YAHS REMIX)"

Kill the Noise and Feed Me have been on my radar for a while and I always love hearing new stuff by them. Thumbs Up was another great surprise for me. The child vocals are an excellent addition to a relatively standard piece of grimy electro. Sadly, if you’re a fan of Ewun or Spor you probably don’t like the direction that these artists have taken. Though they have changed a lot, they also have brought a lot to driving electro into the spotlight and moving the genre forward.

Like most new producers, The Hi-Yahs are throwing some trap at us. Trap remixes are reproducing faster than anyone I know can keep track of them. This particular remix is a cool fusion of the original electro sound and a traditional trap styled drop. I’m absolutely mental over trap that’s guided by high tones. Though it has some of that classic trap flavor, it’s sticks out against the dozens of other trap remixes that I hear every month. I would encourage everyone to keep an eye on The Hi-Yahs. - The Beat Mill

"Trapped three"

As we do once in a while here’s once again a trap selection, with the newest and toughest additions to the family. We’ve got some Kendrick, KTN & Feed Me, Butch Clancy and TJR. The trap genre is still new for the wide portion of producers, and it keeps developing. This is of course an exciting thing to follow and we’ll keep doing it..

"Lil Keke Ft. Paul Wall – Chunk Up The Deuce (The Hi-Yahs Remix) [RTT PREMIERE]"

Today we’ve got a tight new Run The Trap Premier from our homie The Hi-Yahs. You might have heard his Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (The Hi-Yahs x Ca$htro Knot Remix) we posted a while back, and this time around he’s giving Chunk Up The Deuce the Hi Yahs Trap Treatment. The original of this track has some massive low end, so we were excited to hear this new remix. The Hi Yahs version ads a completely new drum arrangement, song arrangemnent, hyphy synth midsection, lo end bass and various other edits for a low slowed and throwed compliment the original. Scoop up the free download below, and go piss of your neighbors with that low end bass.

"THE HI-YAHS DROPS A DREAMY NEW TRACK"

The Hi-Yahs just dropped a chilled-out new track on his SoundCloud, giving us the “Hi-Yahs Trap Up” of Still Corners’ “Fireflies.” The dreamy track has your requisite chanted samples and skittering hi-hats, but the ethereal vocals of Tessa Murphy elate and relax the mind in a way that very few tracks of this genre ever could.
- DJz

"Still Corners - Fireflies (The Hi-Yahs Trap Up)"

The Hi-Yahs had just dropped their latest remix of Still Corners track "Fireflies". The dreamy chillwave song reminds me a bit of Grimes and Purity Ring. Probably becausee Tessa Murphy's voice is so similar to Grimes, somewhat calming and magical. Im absolutely obssesed with this track!
- youn girl party

"FRE$H BLØØD - THE HI-YAHS"

First off, to clear any confusion, The Hi-Yahs is just one dude. It seems likely that he chose his name because his tunes are liable to karate chop you in the face. For real. He might actually be a martial arts master though, it’s hard to tell. You can scour the depths of the interwebs without finding out jack about this guy.

Apparently, he “traveled through space and time and descended from the heavens to make everyone dance.” That’s enough info to make us dig him, especially since he rocks a chain that would make Mr. T jealz.

Mr. Hi-Yah is a relative baby. He’s been doing his thing for less than two years, but already he’s destroyed it at Camp Bisco and opened for some big names like Deadmau5, Zedd and… Tommy Lee? We’ll let that one go.

THY’s most recent track is a trappy remix of the Kill The Noise & Feed Me dubstep/electro banger “Thumbs Up”, which samples one of the awesomest YouTube videos ever. The track simultaneously sits back and pumps it up, leaving you unsure whether to throw your hands in the air or get your lean on. THY also chops up the thumbs-up for rock & roll kid’s voice for the requisite trap “hey’s” (around the 1:20 mark), which is pretty darn rad.

A bunch of The Hi-Yahs’ most recent stuff has been trap, which is not surprising for a dude comin’ out of TX, but his sound is somewhat distinct. His tunes are all pretty darn hyphy, and a lot of them have that crazy buzzy moombahton sound. The dude, in fact, spans genres like woah, and does crank out his fair share of moombah tunes. If you dig waaaaay back through the crates, all the way to last year, you’ll even find that he has some roots in house music, and started out producing electro tunes.

Overall, keep an eye on this guy, he’s a monster. He’s come a long way in a short amount of time, and he’s not done yet. If you live in Texas, go catch The Hi-Yahs soon, otherwise, you may have to wait for festie season. Til then, peep his Soundcloud. - DJz

"FRIDAY'S FRESH TRACKS #1"

Each week, DJZ brings you the freshest, filthiest tracks that you can throw down to make sure the room is moving to the beat. This week we bring you a sampling that ranges from a Laidback Luke preview to a moombahton smash from an up-and-coming duo that you’ve got to hear.

01 DJ Chukie + Junxter / Make Some Noise (Laidback Luke Remix) (Preview)
This action-packed explosion of a preview dropped on Laidback Luke's SoundCloud just a few days ago. Hang tight and wait for the remix - it's sure to be a beast.
02 The Hi Yahs / Get Hot (Original Mix)
Make sure your systems (or headphones!) are cranked up for this bad boy. Rising bass-music producer The Hi Yahs dropped a huge moombahton smasher this week that's sure to make your head bounce. All over the place. Make sure it doesn't fall off. Check the rest of the Lazer Bacon EP out on their SoundCloud.
03 All That Glitters / This Sound (Felix Cartal Remix)
Check out Felix Cartal's remix of "This Sound" by All That Glitters, a project comprised of EDM songstress Polina as well as Mark Alston and Peter Mayes of the Australian duo PNAU. The track electro houses the living crap out of the original with an epic build (and fun series of drops, naturally) that're sure to keep you dancing.
04 Grizmatik / DLIMF
Griz and Gramatik have joined forces to bring you the Grizmatik project, intended to "show you how to weaponize the uranium and cause electro soul devastation." The result is some beautiful, wobbly electro soul, akin to that of scene pioneer Pretty Lights.
05 Mayhem x Antiserum / Bricksquad Anthem
Saved the best for last, and with good reason. Mayhem x Antiserum have teamed up, yet again, to bring another trap-influenced dance-floor banger to the table, even while every DJ I've seen in the last month is still dropping their "Bricksquad Anthem" at the height of their sets. Only good things can come from this. - djz

"[#FTW] MUSIC FOR THE WEEKEND, VOL. III"

Another weekend approaches so that means another tune dump from me. If you’re a regular reader of TMFCKU, you may have noticed a few changes on the front page of the blog. Well, we’ve done this to help you guys find our content much easier. We update almost everyday, and we noticed that a lot of great content was being pushed to the bottom of the site, not good. We’re still working on a few things here and there, but hopefully the site is now much easier to navigate.

I’ve been quite quiet this week in regard to posting up new music, but OGPISTOLPETE has kept the blog running smoothly, so all is good. Anyway, to make up for my lack of posting, I’m going to go crazy in this edition of Music For The Weekend. If you’re on a slowish laptop or P.C, please allow some time for the page to load.

Peace and remember to keep it TMFCKU, your premier Trap Music Blog. - TMFCKU

"Bass Report #018"

I hate to criticize, but I feel so underwhelmed hearing much of the recent trap music coming out. It seems many songs get a little lazy in terms of production at times, rocking a big kick and a repetitive sample for 5 minutes. Anyways, I won’t rant! Alex Young and The Hi-Yahs will be arguing the case for trap done right today.
- salacious sound

"[Trap] Mayhem & Flosstradamus & Carnage & MVRCB & Alex Young & The Hi-Yahs & Victor Niglio & Keys N Krates & Invader! & Booty Hunt & Enferno"

Directly derived from the Human vs. Subhuman Volume 1 of Human Planet, the new remix of Mayhem, a BANGER Trap with the biggest bassline and kick the biggest ever. This is the kind of track that makes us headbang 2 times faster than the beat. With "Brick Squad Anthem" and this track, Mayhem Prove us it is definitely one of the best players Trap . His tracks are hard, filthy, and most importantly, make us want to move as Mongols. Enjoy & Share!

The Dallas, Texas based producers The Hi-Yahs and Ca$htro Knot have teamed up for a super tight heater Kid Cudi – Pursuit of Happiness (The Hi-Yahs x Ca$htro Knot Remix) that we’re dropping exclusively for Run The Trap readers only!! They take the already sick Kid Cudi original and make it straight up LARGEEEEE. This track is so big, and that’s what The Hi-Yahs seem to be doing on every release as of late. This track is just bonkers, it drops super hard, and then branches off into 2 completely random bridges that somehow manage to keep the track together for nothing short of a massive remix. We’ve also added on some bonus tracks from the Hi-Yahs below, so you can get the full picture. RUN IT. - Run The Trap

"Trap Bombs 11"

- Cassette Blog

"?lex Young X The Hi-Yahs – So Much (Original Mix) [FREE DL]"

?lex Young, the 15 year old from Washington DC is at it again with his collaborative effort EP ‘Trapezoid’ with Nightmare! and the Hi-Yahs. The Hi-Yahs had stumbled upon both Nightmare! and ?lex Young on their Soundclouds and immediately sought to seek working with them on this EP. The Hi-Yahs are a duo, Tog Bomb and Kat Ikard from Dallas, Texas and have themselves, been making a lot moves, opening up for many huge acts such as Deadmau5, Hardwell and Excision to name a few. They are also have quite the eclectic taste of music, as they produce in multiple genres. All that influence can really be heard in their songs.

This track is one of the songs from the latest EP. If you have listened to ?lex Young previously before then you know he has one of the most unique styles of Trap out there that really set him out from the crowd, especially at a time when everyone and their mothers are producing Trap tracks. There is a lot more of an electronic influence more than just a run of the mill track, so this really sets it apart from the other trap joints I have been coming across. Expect to hear a lot more from this kid in the near future! - Heady Tunes

"Packing for Camp: Part 2"

The Hi-Yas of Dallas (great name) describe themselves as “A music duo that has traveled through space and time and descended from the heavens to make everyone dance.” Deal me in. Having opened for DeadMau5, Zedd, Excision, and Hot Pink DeLorean, The Hi-Yas rock the Silent Disco stage at 1:30 a.m. Saturday morning with their delightfully wompy big room sound. - Electric Shepherdess

"Camp Bisco Just Got Rowdy: The Silent Disco"

Ok, so after people get over the initial fact that the silent disco is one of the coolest ideas on the planet. The first thing people should notice is that this one is not like the any you are used to. Most silent discos I have been to have just one person playing (that everybody’s heard of before) and 100 – 150 people listening. Camp Bisco’s Silent Disco, takes the idea and just straight up runs with it.
First off the artists that will be playing you probably had no idea even existed. Why would you get excited about this you ask? Well, that’s because the CB silent disco will showcase some of the best underground talent the planet has to offer. Next there are going to be not one, but two producers on stage at all times. Why two producers? Well instead of you just being able to listen to one artist at a time, your headphones will actually have two channels you can switch back and forth with. So now you have two amazing up and coming producers battling it out for your undivided attention. Add double the amount of people at any “normal” silent disco, and now you have a recipe for some of the best sets the summer has to offer.
Not Convinced? Then here are some dope jams, from just a few of the artists that will be gracing us with their presence, throughout this magical weekend.
Have Fun and See You There. - Noise you should hear

"D.D. By The Weeknd (The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

A massive remix of The Weeknd's "D.D." tribute to Michael Jackson, this banging track by The Hi-Yah's takes The Weeknd's powerful, crooning voice and evolves it into a shining beacon of light in a filthy soundscape saturated with incredibly evocative wobbles and lush, ambient-sounding pads. "WEEKEND PLAYLIST VOL. 1: EDITOR'S PICKS"

Soundstage is only a week old, but already, the music running through it is deep. Our Editor Jeff picked out some favorite tunes to create the soundtrack for your weekend.

You can find each song on the artist's profile.

SATURDAY PREGAME:

Your friends are over and you're all hanging out, listening to tunes before heading out. These are the ones you should be listening to.

VIVA VIVA - "Keep Lookin', Good Lookin'"

Jangly, retro and classic. Perfect party starter. Incidentally what I say to myself when I look in the mirror.

ALOUD - "Fan the Fury"

Killer hooks, this tune continues your crescendo of impending epic-ness.

VIBONICS - "Major"

Queen-esque orchestral swells with a hip-hop take. Rise and Shine, Get on Your Grind.

TWIN BERLIN - "Can't Take, Take, Take"

Fast and furious. Have your cabbie bump this as you head to the party. No drifting.

SATURDAY NIGHT:

Is it time to dance? I think it's time to dance. Listen to these songs.

BRITE FUTURES - "Baby Rain"

Synth-heavy, guitar attacks. You should be on the dance floor.

THE HI-YAHS - "I Like Levels"

Dallas DJ duo mashup infectious songs for this club hit.

DYLAN LE DISKO - "Rolling In The Deep"

Everyone's favorite Grammy sweetheart gets the Le Disko treatment.

SUNDAY:

Not sure what it is, but occasionally on Sunday's loud music isn't the way to go.

RHIANNA LAROCQUE - "I Care For You"

If Fiona Apple were happy, she'd sound like Rhianna. The perfect song for a Sunday.

MAXIME ROBIN - "Mondrian Owns Geometry"

Montreal's mix-and-matcher makes something out of everything.

ANTHONY BLAINE AND THE BAREBONES ORCHESTRA - "Dear Mother Nature"

Try to not find this song catchy. I dare you.

KOPECKY FAMILY BAND - "Howlin' At The Moon"

As the sun sets and the moon rises, get ready to fight your way through the work week before you can do this all again. - RedBull Soundstage

"D.D (The Hi-Yah’s remix) – The Weeknd"

It’s not often that I find myself grooving to The Weeknd dubstep remixes, but this tune has me straying from my norm. The Hi-Yah’s have put together a very interesting style of dubstep remix. Mixing high vocals with melodic wobbles makes this track infectious. The multi-sex duo hail from Dallas, Texas, and although this tune is a dubstep track, the majority of their songs fall under the electro house or electro-dub categories. I’ll throw in one of their electro-dub tracks in the bottom of the post so you can get a taste for their style. As always, make sure you listen to these songs through your best headphones or speakers for optimum enjoyment! - The Dankles

"THE HI-YAHS & MOFASA - ROLL WITH US (ORIGINAL MIX)"

The Hi-Yahs have created a definite banger and joined forces with the talented Mofasa for this one. This house track will get the crowd crazy every time! Don't miss this, it's coming soon to BeatPort soon for a DL.

Check out The Hi-Yahs other tracks for some free tunes and support them all the way!

Support Mofasa as well! Big Ups!! - Electronication

"Moombahwhat?! #9"

It’s been a month since I’ve last written this Moombahwhat column and it’s safe to say a lot has gone down in the Moombahverse. As the sound has become a global phenomenon, making it’s way from small clubs in Washington, DC to the main stages at music festivals outside of the United States, it’s evolved into something that people to either love or hate – seemingly without much middle ground.
Locally, here in Miami, we’ve certainly seen a rise in interest in our beloved genre. On Thursday, July 29th at the Vagabond, your friends at (((SHAKE))) will be doing another Moombahton Over Miami event. I’m honored to play yet again, along with my Miami Moombahtonists Never Yawn, Ashworth and Stereotype. You can download my set from the previous Moombahton Over Miami here.
Orlando is popping off as well – I know that I will be playing a bit of moombahton at Ovrkill, the New Years Eve party going down at the Social. Featuring your favorite Orlando DJ’s, the Smile For Camera family (Cliff Tangredi, Winston Wolfe, Joey Paranoia, Blood Eagle, Quantum Thoery, Dr. Khan, Ma-LESS and myself somejerk) will be rocking until 3:30am!
Slow Roast boss and turntablist extraordinaire Craze celebrated his birthday at Grand Central with his friends, who happen to be the biggest names in the moombah-game right now. Nadastrom (Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom, duh), Heartbreak, JWLS and my favorite of the night, Bro Safari, rocked the crowded downtown Miami venue like people had been into this music their whole lives, or perhaps had been waiting for it, with hips gyrating, (some people’s) jaws grinding and not a single person standing still while the sounds (and smells) of tropical bass permeated the air. It is unfortunate to mention that right before Craze was about to do his thing a beer spilled on his laptop, pretty much destroying it, from what we could observe from the crowd. And now….a bunch of dope, free tunes. Which is what I know you’re here for, but I’ve gotta at least try to kick some knowledge ‘pon de massive, while exposing you to the freshest sound around.
- Smile For Camera

"The 100 songs we love in June 2011"

Just in time for the long weekend, here is our first monthly recap sampler. The June Lo-File has 100 tracks we’ve been listening to over the last month. For the most part, these are tracks that bands, dj, producers, and PR companies have sent us over the last month. Because we still have a small staff and can’t write about each of the great bands that send us their tracks, we decided to make the music available to you in a handy dandy ZIP file that you can download here.

If you like the artists on this sampler please support the bands by buying their EPs, LPs, seeing them live and buying their merch; and of course, help them get their names out there by letting your friends know about them. If you like the idea of us doing this 100 song sampler each month, please click like below so we know you want us to keep doing them or Share This On Facebook so other people can check it too. - The New LoFi

"MOOMBAH MONDAYS"

This is one of the better Moombahton remixes to this track I have heard, and I have heard almost all of them. I would love to hear this track live because I could see crowds going crazy.

"This Lights All Night Remix Contest Is Whats Really Good"

Ok so there is this contest right now that is going to send one lucky act to Lights All Night December 30th to play there jams in front of thousands of people. The contest is run by Indaba Music and the rules are simple, remix one of three songs that they pre-selected and get the most votes on it. The pre-selected songs are “Can We Go Up” By Paper Diamond, “Kick Slap Speaker” By Ghostland Observatory and “Down the Line” By Archnemesis. I have been scouring all of the remixes put up so far and I gotta say a lot of them are difficult to listen to. Fortunately there are some amazing remixes that make sifting through all of the bull worth it. I have compiled all of my favorites for you to listen to (mostly “Can We Go Up” remixes), but you should really check it out for yourself. I’m sure there are a couple I missed. Enjoy.
- Noise you should hear

"I Like Levels (The Hi-Yahs Mashup)"

The Hi-Yahs are at it again and took these tracks to make a great mashup!! Big Ups to the Hi-Yahs!
- Dirty Mp3z

"Dub Whamp Drums and Wobble"

The Hi-Yah's have quickly become one of my favorite production outfits. There interpretation of Martin Solveig and Dragonette's club smasher "Hello" is one of the hardest hitting remixes of what was originally a very pop-oriented song.

And these Dallas,Texas natives live up to the reputation of everything being bigger, at least when it comes to the bass lines in their dubstep rework of Ace Hood's "Hustle Hard". Naaaaaahsty!
- NorthHouse Music

"Work Hard, Play Hard (The Hi-Yahs Remix)"

Tiesto did a great job with this tune. I did an earlier post of this track by Ivan Muhar, but I couldn't contain myself with this one.

Coming from Dallas, Tx, The Hi-Yahs are making their way around the scene with their HUGE remixes and originals. Here is what they did to Tiesto's 'Work Hard, Play Hard'
