"LOCAL NEWSPAPER: Springs LoUd Life Crew raises the volume on CO’s Hip-Hop"

The Colorado hop-hop scene is blossoming with more talent than ever and the spotlight of national attention is beginning to take notice. At the forefront of the local Colorado Springs scene is a growing movement under the name of LoUd Life Crew, an established and independently run label by fellow artist Justin Dejesus, better known as SwizZy B.

Breaking down the name a little further Dejesus said, “LoUd Life Crew is a music collective & record label I established in 2012. The word LoUd actually breaks down to an acronym spelling out ‘Living Out Ur Dream.’ L.o.U.d and the misspelling of the ‘your’ in that phrase to UR is why we capitalize the U when we spell out LoUd Life Crew.”

As for the origins of Dejesus’s music career, he began rapping as a hobby around 8 years ago and has been taking it as serious life career for the last three. Originally from Orlando, Florida, Dejesus began crafting his sound in the competitive Florida atmosphere and recently brought his skills to the local scene of Colorado Springs. Not only did he begin absorbing information on how to become an artist, he also looked into the business side of music. “I’ve spent thousands of hours within those developing years in creating my LoUd Life brand and group, learning a lot about the business side of the music industry which opened my eyes to the first legitimate steps to make this as a career,” said Dejesus.

The core foundation of the label currently consists of seven artists and one DJ. The artists include SwizZy B, Marvylus, Noopey Na’mon, GrandMastaSkunk, King Vergo, dhino., and Mann LaGrand Flight. DJ NOMAD takes care of the DJ’ing duties and Desiree Fourquet takes care of both manger duties as well as photography. The goal of the group is to create a new wave of conscience music and diverse artists that not only the youth but older generations can relate to as well. Combining the powerful lyricism and storytelling of 90’s style hip-hop with the raw energy and entertainment value of the newer generation.

Bringing up some of the inspiration and memorable moments from his career so far, Dejesus has quite a bit of memories to draw from. Getting advice from the legend himself, Raekwon from Wu-Tang clan might be the biggest highlight of all however. After opening up for him at the Summit Music Hall in Denver on January 27, 2018, Dejesus and the crew had the opportunity to chop it up with the legend himself and listen in on some great gems of knowledge about the industry. Another highlight from recent experiences was performing for a few out of state show dates with Snow The Product on her Vibe Higher Tour. Dejesus also cites people like Snow Tha Product and Tech N9ne as inspiration behind the reasons of why he wanted to create his own independent label.

Speaking on the groups upcoming plans Dejesus said, “We’ve been working in overdrive lately. We will be releasing our very first group Album titled ‘LoUdNaTion.’ We’re working with a few booking agents and companies in Denver that are going to help us book more headlining events around Colorado and surrounding states, so a lot more headlining concerts in and outside of the city. Also, each individual artist on the roster will be releasing projects, like my ‘OverWorked and Underpaid 2’ album, ‘Noopey Namon Girl Tape 2,’ ‘Marvylus A Marvylus Tape,’ ‘Vergo Warlord’ and the list goes on. We will also be releasing a plethora of visuals for these projects all leading into the summer.”

Looking forward to the months ahead, the LoUd Life Crew has a headlining show on March 2, 2018 in Colorado Spring at the Black Sheep. It looks to be a huge show for the label as a whole and a great opportunity to showcase Colorado’s local hip-hop scene. A must see for anyone interested in learning just what Colorado hip-hop has to offer.

"Thisis50 Exclusive Interview: SwizZy B of LoUd Life Crew"

What is your name and what city do you rep?

My name is Justin Dejesus aka SwizZy B of LoUd Life Crew. I’m currently in Colorado Springs putting on for the city but im originally from Orlando, Florida. That’s where it all started

What is unique about you and your music?

Well im a young, Energetic, Bilingual Hip Hop artist, From the deep conscience storytelling verses to the catchy, bouncy new age hooks My music inspires and relates to both the youth and older generations of hip hop lovers. Riddled in quick witted wordplay and realism I believe I embody what a modern day Emcee is supposed to be. I take pride in my live concerts and performances thats where I feel the most at home and what I am known for in Colorado, High Energy Rap/punk rock style show. We do it all from Crowd Surfing and Moshpits to Dancers and Water splashing.

What shaped your music?

My real life experiences, as well as a few musical influences from Bands to other Hip Hop artist. Alot of my inspiration comes from the ups and downs of my life outside of music. I grew up in one of the worst places to live in Florida so I was forced to see alot of different activities and walks of life. I like to write that and about the environment I grew up in cause that shaped not only my music but me as a person.

When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Honestly, when I first started in 2012. I was 18 years old, Fresh out of high school ready to tackle on the business world haha I started LoUd Life Crew as an official licensed independent record label a month after my 18th birthday. I had a very strong vision on what I wanted to do, a 5 year plan and a great passion for music since I was a child and as soon as I was of age I went for it full force.

What type of music do you listen to?

I listen to all genres of music but mainly Hip Hop and R&B. Dave East has become one of my favorite artist out recently, Of course Tech N9ne and Snow Tha Product are on that playlist. Even some Kodak Black when the mood fits haha I listen to anything thats dope and gets me in a vibe.

Who, to you, is the most undervalued music artist?

Other than me? Haha Right now I would say Snow Tha Product, Also Caskey both very hardworking artist that make amazing music but don’t get the credit they deserve. At least thats how I feel, they might agree I don’t know.

How do you prepare for your performances?

Well I like to be as relaxed and clear minded as possible right before I go on stage. I’m always rehearsing so on show days I take it as easy as possible if not running around meeting and taking pictures with fans. If you haven’t caught a concert yet, I REALLY suggest you do, I promise you will love every minute.

What ignites your (song) writing flow?

Alot of built up emotion, I have alot to say and I want fans to feel the emotions I felt as I was writing it, I am developing a unique writing style and delivery to connect with fans worldwide.

What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

I spend alot of time with my family, Im laser focused on music 24/7 whenever im not I rather be at home with the kids playing video games or going on some kind of adventure in the Rocky Mountains.

Success to you is…

Achieving all the goals I set for myself and team, I also believe success is something that needs to be maintained, in why I believe no matter what level of life or success you see you should always continue to set higher ones. Live life with no limits.

What do you wish you were told when you first started rapping that you think would help artists starting out?

Work on your craft 24/7. Alot of artist that start rapping want to automatically jump into the big shows and touring and expect thousands of views, when they haven’t put out any good quality music. No offense. Everyone starts off locally and thats the reality of it so inflated egos are no help, Matter fact the more humble you are you attract more loyal fans, at least for me. You have to work your way up the ladder so start by going to local bars or wherever they do local showcases. Network with other artist that are doing the same thing you want to do. Its a process and you have to trust your process.

Any upcoming projects?

Yes, I have my OverWorked and Underpaid 2 Project with some special guest features and our First LoUd Life Crew Group Album Titled “LoUdNaTion” dropping on all Major Platforms in May.

Where do we find you music / music project?

You can find all my music and exclusive content on www.LoUdLifeCrew.com as well as Apple Music, Spotify, TIDAL, Google Play, Amazon ect. Just search “SwizZy B”.
