"TravioWhat Seeking To Restore Hip Hop’s Former Glory"

Music artist TravioWhat’s no stranger to the music industry. From unique sounds to top shelf production, his work definitely stands apart. His ambition and focus has primed the artist to exceed expectations and to become a highly sought out talent by professionals. Don’t miss out on TravioWhat because the musician has something the listeners have always wanted.

The American recording artist from South Bend, IN, home of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, is rapper, disc jockey, saxophonist, poet, and avid music enthusiast. “I’ve studied the art of music since I was old enough to reach the play button. I offer a high energy live performance featuring rapid fire flows, comedy skits, choreography, and sometimes even free pizza. What sets me apart from others is my attention to detail when crafting lyrics and songs. I try to never use the same rhyming words twice in a verse,” TravioWhat explains.

Upcoming for the industrious artist is the EP titled Turn Tha Noise Up with the first single “Pizza Party” being released with a music video. A long awaited, and highly anticipated solo album is also coming soon. Much can be expected from TravioWhat who is working on organizing a tour in the near future throughout the United States, as well as an international tour to spread his music. “Long term I want to win a few Grammys while helping to restore hip hop and r&b music back to its former glory,” he sums up.

"TravioWhat Is Taking Advantage Of The Lull In Music To Push His Message"

Skilly: How were you able to start your journey in the entertainment business? Where did this all start?
TravioWhat: I’ve had a serious passion for entertainment and making people laugh since I was old enough to tell a joke. On the music side of things I can remember watching my father, a local DJ and lead singer of r&b group The Intellects. Over time I started dabbling in the art of making mix tapes for myself and friends and also soaking up all the dance steps and performance tips I could during the weekend band rehearsals.

What are some of the creative ways you use to promote your music?
I’d have to say people’s appetites have been one of the biggest promo tools for my music to date. Through the art of song and pizza I turned my debut single from just a song about pizza into a saucy cheesy marketing masterpiece chock full of contests, prizes, costumes, and of course pizza parties

What is the greatest challenge you face in today’s entertainment business? How do you overcome them?
The greatest challenge I face in today’s entertainment business is the declining quality of music, in both message and creativity. In order to overcome these challenges I try to stay consistent with the message in my music and try my best to stay informed and ahead of the curve as far as new music and social tech arises.

How is the music scene like in your hometown? What do you like about it and what don’t you like?
The music scene in my hometown continues to grow at an alarming rate. It’s awesome to see the influence of hip hop and urban style spread. Unfortunately though, the local scene is jam packed with contributors. I can’t honestly say its jam packed with actual talent, not saying I’m better than anyone but seriously like 75% is absolutely horrible.

Where do you think the future of music is going to be? How do you feel artists can be more a part of it?
At the rate technology is moving these days I honestly don’t know. 5 years from now they might just implant songs and videos right into your brain.

What advice can you give to other upcoming artists and musicians trying to achieve success?
If it’s really what you want to do with your life never give up. Stay grinding, practice, and never let someone tell you that you can’t or you won’t.

What inspires you to write your next song?
Life experience and my amazing pop culture knowledge play a pretty big part in coming up with ideas for songs. Also all the terrible music I’m forced to listen to in the clubs and on the radio inspires me to try to make something more reminiscent of the music of old.

What are the steps you take to make a song?
I mostly let the beat tell me. If you listen close enough the instruments in a fresh beat are always talking to you. All you have to do is bring the words to life.

What do you think makes a great song?
The melody, rhythm, delivery, subject matter, and a bangin’ beat never hurts either.
