"-Review- Trick The Riddle - "Untitled" EP"

Trick The Riddle are an Alternative Rock band from Long Island, NY that just last year released this six track EP. Let's dive in and see what they're all about. The opening track "Don" starts off with a lick of a guitar riff before exploding into an early Incubus type eruption. The track is funky, upbeat (later in the track even a bit chaotic) and really kicks the EP off with a bang. "Psychobaby" has a bit of a Punk feel to it. The track has radio play written all over it and brings to mind Blink 182 with its Pop Punk tendencies. "The Cure" is another high energy track that'll get the live crowd moving and singing along. The track is Rock at its finest and really showcase what the band are capable of in the Rock world. The guitar solo on the track is top notch. "Masquerade" starts off a bit slow but once it gets going, it's an unbelievable Alternative Rock track. It has that single quality and should be heard immediately. "Short Fuse" is a hard hitting track that should really strike a chord with Rock music fans. It's a driving, high octane track that doesn't let up. The breakdown near the end of the song really takes it to an even higher level. The closer "The Animals Cooperate" slows things down a bit. The track has that bit of Funk to it along with the signature Trick The Riddle sound. It's probably the most diverse song on the EP but really makes the listener yearn for even more as a closer. All of the tracks on this six track EP could be singles and played on Rock radio right now. It's so damn good and if you're into Rock music you should definitely check it out as soon as possible.

Verdict:
Trick The Riddle have what it takes to be on Rock radio right now with their newest EP. - From The Depths Entertainment

"-Interview- Trick The Riddle (4/25/17)"

1. How did you get started with music and how did you develop your sound? Who thought of the name “Trick The Riddle” and is there any meaning behind it?

We all started playing quite young and really just loved a certain band or artist that inspired us. We all met in a previous band and decided to move forward in a different direction with the music, once all of the members truly decided what they wanted to say with their sound. Mike presented the name, but the story is too dark to tell.

2. What do you want listeners to take away from your "Untitled" EP?

This is some raw shit.

3. What can people expect from your live show?

A lot of energy and a lot of loudness.

4. What's your favorite track to play live?

A new song we’ve been working on called "High Roller".

5. Who are three bands you’d like to tour with?

Royal Blood, Highly Suspect, and The Story So Far.

6. Any crazy show stories?

It seems there can never be a show where all of Luke’s electronics work properly.

7. What’s your take on the current state of Rock?

Rock is definitely dead but the corpse isn’t out of the room just yet.

8. What’s the current music scene like there in New York both locally and state wide?

New York and Long Island in general aren’t the best scenes for local music; any acts that come through are generally too big and already have tour packages, and there’s no venues or groups of people that like to support an artist they’ve never heard before, so generally most venues are pay-to-play which really hurts a band like us, and the hundreds of other bands like us.

9. What’s your take on legal/illegal music downloading?

With the invention of the internet and portable music in the form of digital files, it’s a sad consequence that we have to accept, on both sides; I liked when CD’s were around, it solved so many problems. Regardless, I think all music should be free but in a world where money is necessary, if you like an artist buy their stuff. Period.

10. What’s next for Trick The Riddle?

Playing a lot of shows and trying to get as many people to hear our EP as possible.

11. Any shoutouts? JAAAAAAAAAAAAAMES. - From The Depths Entertainment

Bio

In 2016, Long Island natives Trick the Riddle formed and recorded their first EP, Untitled, inspired by the alternative rock now absent from mainstream music. With emo-punk aesthetics and grunge influences, vocalist/guitarist Luke Vichnis, bassist Michael D'Amato, drummer Madden Klass, and pianist Hunter Krasnow seek to redefine the boundaries of modern rock.

The band plans to return to the studio in summer of 2018 to start recording their first full-length album.
