"Press Review:"

Her music will touch your soul. Every word, every note that she sings will penetrate your essence and sear itself into your memory. I played Valerie's music while traveling through the Sicilian countryside as I was researching my book, and her music was the major inspiration of the story. She is simply magical. - Novelist Alfred Zappala, Esq., (author of the Reverse Immigrant and Figghiu Beddu).

Bio

For Boston based vocalist Valerie Giglio, its all about bringing that old-school sound back and pairing it with contemporary elements of today's pop music. She has a distinctive lush, retro style and sound that embodies the era of La Dolce Vita - with a modern edge and international appeal that makes her unique in today's music world. Her vocals are evocative and dramatic, ranging from touching, soft, and sweet to soaring powerhouse textures.

Valerie got her start in the music scene while singing in several bands during her college and law school days. Singing across many genres from Blues to Classic Rock, R&B, and dance tunes - she developed an ability to combine these genres in her delivery and performance as a energetic lead singer. But it was the opportunity provided to her by the late Boston jazz legend Al Vega that truly molded her into the artist that she is today. Valerie was a featured vocalist with the Al Vega Trio for many years, performing with Al and appearing at great Boston area venues including Sculler's Jazz Club. Valerie has had the honor of sharing the stage with some of Boston's finest musicians. In 2009, she partnered with Al and his Trio on her first CD release entitled "Songbook", a collection of her favorite standards from the Great American Songbook reinterpreted in her own unique style.

But it was Valeries many travels to Italy and her love of its vibrant music scene served as the muse for her second CD "The Italian Project", an Italian-themed album released in 2011 which includes swing and blues tunes from the era of La Dolce Vita...reminiscent of smoky jazz clubs in Rome... as well as Italian contemporary songs and Italian versions of classic American hits - showcasing even more of her ability, range, and depth as an vocalist while staying true to her retro styling. As a solo artist, Valerie performs locally throughout the New England area as well as internationally, in both English and Italian languages. Valerie is a voting member of New York Chapter of The Recording Academy (Grammy's). She is also a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) and maintains her own publishing company(Valmark Publishing) and independent record label (Palma Records).

In 2012, Valerie released her original single entitled "Hollywood Version of Love". The song is a fun and light hearted tribute to the drama of Old Hollywood, combined with a 1960's doo-wop feel. Her love of retro sounding jazz and swing has also drawn her to compose new material inspired by the heavily European influenced Gypsy Jazz/Electro Swing genres, for which she is currently anticipating a 2013 CD release.
