The frequent concerts at Kemah Boardwalk are the icing on the cake to their fun-filled family entertainment.

A major summer event, Rock The Dock, has held concerts for several great bands, including three-piece Texas rock band Zack King. All the way from Grapevine, King came to perform on Thursday, playing a great show and bringing out fans all the way from Atlanta!

Having performed for artists such as Randy Travis, Bon Jovi, Stone Temple Pilots, Alabama, Tesla and many more, the Kemah Boardwalk audience made it clear several times that they appreciated having them on stage.

The band was established in 2002 by vocalist and guitarist Zack King, drummer Rob Fenton and bass guitarist Jay Espinosa, releasing their first album, Ireland, in 2005.
However, the band did not become who they are today until Fenton’s close friend Kevin Strang agreed to fill in for Espinosa for a few gigs. King and Fenton were so impressed that they hired him full-time after the first performance!

Five years later, their second self-produced album, Up From Here, released in February of 2011 and soon after that they released singles such as Big Plan In The Southland, Christmas Song and I Do.

The band’s unique sound originates with its members’ individual childhoods. With them all being from different states – King Louisiana, Fenton New York and Strang Pennsylvania – their combination of blues, country, rock and jazz resulted in their unique form of Texas rock.

With each musician having different styles of specialty, their combination fits together like a puzzle, each member being an essential part of a beautiful creation. And their natural bond with each other shows not only in how they work together but in their performance.

As a whole, they were tight musically, equally energetic, yet subtle, while providing quality music for all audiences, playing both their own originals and covers by The Beatles, Van Morrison and the Marshall Tucker Band.

They played with passion and the crowd could see it in their faces and hear it in their music. What more could you ask for at a concert? -
