Bio

From Grover Washington, Jr. and Pieces of a Dream to Jeff Lorber and Gamble & Huff, Philadelphia has always been a hotbed for exciting and groundbreaking R&B and jazz. Recording artists ZOE’, with their smooth yet funky grooves had incredible energy that flowed just as powerfully as those legendary influences.

From the Beginning
ZOE’, in January 2001 under the leadership of Reginald Harris along with four (4) other musicians: Ron Segers, Cleveland Belin Jr., Dave Ferebee, and Bill Williams, decided to explore their creative potential.
ZOE’ undertook its first recording endeavor in April 2001. Self-producing and self- promoting their first CD entitled “Long Time”. The result was incredible.

The lineup changed after the CD, “Long Time” was released and bassist
H. Maurice Fonville and percussionist Bolivar “Chico” Guadalupe was introduced to the group and proved to be a winning combination.
A second CD titled “Heaven Bound” was recorded and released in 2004.
ZOE’ quickly became an integral part of the Philadelphia jazz scene. ZOE’ captivated listeners by their soulful sounds fueled by smooth jazz, funk, R&B and pure entertainment. In 2009, ZOE’ released their third CD, titled “Let’s Fly”. This was a high-spirited project with instantly compelling melodies over tight rhythms. The smooth balance of lead instruments drew the listener in and kept them engaged from start to finish.

Due to the success of the earlier projects, ZOE’ in 2013, poured all their strength and soul into their latest project titled, “Unstoppable”. The feel good, high spirited, groovy and refreshing music of this CD reflected the best passion and joys of life.

ZOE’ performed with national musicians such as Mindi Abair, Keb Mo, Jeff Kashiwa, jazz flautist Sherry Winston, Gail Jhonson of Jazz In Pink, trumpeter Cindy Bradley, Elan Trotman at the popular jazz hot spot, Warmdaddy’s in Philadelphia and Grammy Nominated recording artist, Yocontalie Jackson.

ZOE’ has also performed with or opened for: Phil Perry, Alex Bugnon, Marcus Johnson, Althea Rene, Karen Briggs, Art Sherrod, Marcus Anderson, Nick Colionne, Matt Marshak, B.K Jackson, Harold Melvin’s Blue Notes, Delfonics and notable inspirational speakers such as Kathy Ireland and Iyanla Vanzant.

ZOE’ has performed at various events, cruises and jazz festivals. (Catalina Jazz Fest in 2010 and 2011, Wawa Welcome America Music Series at Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia in 2010, Burlington County Jazz Fest, Dauphin County Jazz Fest, Rehoboth Beach Jazz Fest, Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest, Blues Alley, Bethesda Jazz & Supper Club, Rowan College (Homecoming-2017), Hub City Jazz Festival-2017 & 2019), National Coalition of 100 Black Women (Alexandria, VA), Veterans Memorial Home (Vineland, NJ), among many other large events.)
ZOE’ also produced and sponsored two (2) successful music shows in 2015.

With a blend of diverse musical styles and backgrounds, ZOE’ has created a unique sound of their own.

The new “ZOAY’ JAZZ” continues to give the audience what they want and deserve, “THE VERY BEST”!

This core of the group, Cleveland Belin, Jr. (Keyboardist), David M. Ferebee (Drummer), and H. Maurice Fonville (Bassist) has proven to be an incredible and unbreakable combination.

The best of life’s joys are embodied in feel good, high spirited, groovy and refreshing music. Whether settling in from a long day, dining in or out, cruising in the car or just in need of a pick-me-up, ZOAY’ JAZZ has something for the “Heart” & “Soul”!
