"2-Bit Palomino "Rides Again", new CD/Performance at Dosey Doe - December 03, 2012"

As I said in past articles about 2-Bit Palomino, “There are not many songwriters who can make me totally and completely smitten with their words….but these songs, lyrics and vocals by Andi Renfree, Peter (Ren) Renfree and Bill Ward are more than I could ever expect. The acoustical melodies and harmonies in these beautiful voices blend like they were always meant to be, and the songs are so masterfully written and aimed straight for your heart and consciousness. Ren, Andi and Bill are artists in the truest sense of the word, painting vivid pictures in your mind, melting into your mind, heart and soul. 2-Bit Palomino does just that and more. You will forever remember each heartfelt message and the kaleidoscope of visuals created by their spectacular lyrics, vocals and melodies. It is pure magic from 2-Bit Palomino. - Sherry Jane Cook - Houston Music Examiner

"2-Bit Palomino "Rides Again""

I really didn’t know anything about vocal band 2-Bit Palomino other than they had won a prestigious award in the 2011 Texas Music Awards. After visiting the band’s website at www.2bitpalomino.com, I was immediately intrigued. In the next few days I received their new CD in the mail and spent a great deal of time listening to their country folk style. However, categorizing this band as such doesn’t quite do the musicians justice because they have a very unique sound that differs from song to song—from the hauntingly beautiful lyrics, piano, and harmonies in “Church of the Underground,” to very upbeat songs like “Tulsa Tempest” and “Cotton Dress.” LifeinLA looks forward to the 2-Bit Palomino tour next summer! - Mike Runner - LA Lifestyle (December 04, 2012)

"Great Work! - December 05, 2012"

This cd (2-Bit Palomino "Rides Again") is great. The harmonies are very impressive! All of the songs sound great. I must say that "Church Of The Underground" is a masterpiece. I hit repeat several times for that one. Really interesting melody and chordal harmony. Very compelling. Good job.... - Lloyd Maines, Grammy Award-Winning Producer

"2-Bit Palomino Rocks the OC!"

I'm moved... I'm leaning back in a high back chair with low lights in my home office with headphones on and really getting into (their) latest. I love My Own Backyard and keep listening over and over to Church of the Underground, Appomattox and Where Have All The Heroes Gone? Seriously... this is amazing music... Congrats! - Craig Carpenter - DJ - KOCI 101.5 FM

"2-Bit Palomino Live at WFMT Folk Stage - March 18, 2013"

2-Bit Palomino is a Trio of Houston Singer/Songwriters Andi Renfree, Ren Renfree and Bill Ward. Founded in March of 2010, 2BP (as their fans call them) have made huge strides and are quickly becoming a household name in Texas Music, and across the country. Each of the members brings their own flair and style to the group. Their music is a blend of all three coasts; West Coast, Gulf Coast and East Coast. This diversity lends to a very wide range of styles that somehow all come together to form a unified sound that is uniquely 2-Bit Palomino - Rich Warren, WFMT Folks Stage

"Wildflower Festival (Folk Stage) - Bank of America Theater - Richardson, TX - May 17, 2013"

Prasada-Rao’s segment was followed by the performance of Bill Ward and Two-Bit Palomino, named after the mechanical horse rides that were placed outside of supermarkets in the 60’s and 70’s that cost a quarter to ride out a child’s cowboy fantasies.

Two-Bit Palomino not only treated the audience to some original tunes presented with great vocal prowess, but took the responsibility for the sound system for the entire weekend. I’ll stop the narrative right now to sing the praises of the sound system and its management by Ren Renfree, Andi Renfree and Bill Ward. Throughout the weekend, the set changes between acts were relatively quick and problem free, thanks to the preparation and implementation of those three individuals. - James Killeen, Houston Music Review.com

"The Navasota Current 10/22/10"

"This incredible day ended with an intimate concert by 2 bit palomino at the Corner Cafe. The Renfrees have teamed up with Bill Ward to form a great little folk-Americana- you name it- band. All original songs, with their usual zeal, and now with the veteran finesse of a git down picker and piano man. Ward has an interesting gravelly voice and sings a fun song about a child riding one of those grocery store mechanical ponies... a 2 bit palomino... hence their new name. But there is nothing 2-bit about their sound. These performers already sound like they have been playing together for a long time. You know that is true when the show seems too short!"

"My Texas Music 10/14/10"

"We don’t ask for much, do we? All we ask is that songwriters write good songs. All we ask is for singers to sing perfectly. All we ask is that artists release CDs with expert performances by outstanding pickers. We simply ask that, as music fans, we come away from a listening experience somehow improved by having listened. The trio of Peter Renfree, Andi Renfree, and Bill Ward are collectively 2-Bit Palomino and they have delivered all we asked for and more. Three voices, each unique and varied, beautifully blended to create some of the best harmonies you will hear this year. I don’t remember seeing that since, well, I don’t remember seeing that. As you listen to “2-Bit Palomino,” a song penned by Ward, you will come to understand the inspiration of this group. An award worthy project, this disc provides the answer to the question, “What more could we ask for?”"

"Maverick Magazine 11/01/10"

"A lyrically thoughtful, melodic and harmony rich debut disc, from this recently formed Houston trio of songwriters…from the joyously upbeat and optimistic “Today I Am A Pirate” to the inspirational “Wings” and the truly atmospheric “The Buffalo Grass”. “Run Girl, Run”, and “Boots and Dust and Dirt” provides ample evidence that this folk-country trio know how to rock.

"Don't let the name fool you, this pony can bite down hard on the bit and take you on a spirited musical ride. The Texas-based group, consisting of veteran musicians/song writers Bill Ward, Andrea "Andi" Renfree and Peter "Ren" Renfree, would be right at home pickin' and grinnin' on the Carter Family front porch or riffing with The Rolling Stones."

"Brush away all of country music's rhinestones and you'll find a grindstone underneath. Or, as Merle Haggard once said: "It ain't white man's blues, it's working man's blues." Sometimes it's a tough task finding that authentic sound. But it's definitely worth the hunt. One of the best current practitioners of that sound is 2-Bit Palomino."

Bio

Recently signed to Howlin' Dog Records, 2-Bit Palomino are the 2011 and 2013 Texas Vocal Group of the Year (as awarded by The Academy of Texas Music). Just 5 years ago, this trio of fine Texas Singer/Songwriters were just getting together musically! Now you can catch a 2-Bit Palomino show throughout the United States.

Identifiable by their trademark harmonies, this trio of Houston singer/songwriters bring so much to the table musically. Their music is rich, melodic and harmony driven, while their songwriting is quite magical.

2-Bit Palomino is Bill Ward (Guitar, Keyboards, Vocal), Andi Renfree (Percussion, Kazoo, Vocal) and Ren Renfree (Guitar, Mandolin, Ukulele and Vocal). All three of these talented musicians have made their mark on the Texas Music, Americana and Folk Music scenes.

Their latest release "Things I Dream About" is due to release to retail and radio on May 19th, 2015. This, their third, release is by far the best yet with a collection of songs that will take you on an emotional journey through the human condition.

Their last release, "Rides Again" garnered them the 106th spot on the US Americana Radio Charts (terrestrial and internet) as an independent.

Andi and Ren have many recorded songwriting credits, including Andi's co-write "Buffalo Grass" which was released by Capitol Records recording artist Chris LeDoux on his final studio album "Horsepower".
