"Sonic Reducer"

“This local duo gets an "A" simply for sending in vinyl. Just A.S.K. delivers catchy tunes and capable boy/girl vocals.”

"Music Reviews"

“Did I say catchy? Some of these melodies will stick in your head all day. "Lucky Boy," the opening track, might be the best one on the album. It's probably the hardest-rocking one, with lyrics extolling the joy of being a local rock hero. "Give those lucky bones another throw/Let's get this rock 'n' roll show on the road," Vaughter sings. In "Parallel Universe," an acoustic guitar is prominent, and the lyrics are dark. "In the new world paradigm, everyone's a whore." Though it doesn't sound like country music, in the last verse, Vaughter name-checks the hillbilly Shakespeare: "To quote the late Hank Williams, no one gets out alive."”

Bio

Alien Space Kitchen (A.S.K) is a psych-rock-pop band formed in 2010 and currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  The group formed when Dru Vaughter, a.k.a. Agent 47 (from Minneapolis), and Nichole Drake (Ohio born and raised) realized that their shared love for classic bands such as X, the Cramps, the Replacements, Thirteenth Floor Elevators, and the Kinks could not be fulfilled just by listening to vinyl.  It was decided:  they would form a band with Dru on guitar and Nichole on drums.  They struggled to find a regular bass player, but they carried on as a duo and even recorded award-winning debut Just ASK, which was voted best Rock CD of 2013 at the New Mexico Music awards.  As noted by the local press, Did I say catchy? Some of these melodies will stick in your head all day. Steve Terrell- Pasatiempo].

Right around that time, the planets aligned in favor of the two Midwestern band-mates when they met bass player Mess Messal.  This stalwart veteran of the L.A. music scene brought the low-end that the kids had been searching for, and the power-trio incarnation of A.S.K. was born.

Mess is a pro who has played and toured the world with, among other bands, Flies on Fire, VOMPF, and Vitamade.  His sound is a perfect complement for the rock and roll guitar stylings of Dru, who was previously in bands including Free Range Clones and Black T-Shirt Monday.  Nicholes musical background is primarily as a D.J.  She is very happy to be bringing her own live groove to the table on an old-school trap kit.  Combined, the three offer a rock-and-roll experience that you dont want to miss.

Right now A.S.K. is busy playing out whenever possible, making new friends, and building up a catalog of enough new music for two or three more LPs.  With any luck they will soon be playing in your neck of the universe.
