"Gold Mine"

Hole in the Sky is a gold mine of the CBC! - Mark Rheaume, CBC Radio (Head of music resources)

"Fabulous Ontario alt-rock group Before the Flood..."

With members from Mississauga, Guelph, Milton, and Toronto, fabulous Ontario alt-rock group Before the Flood releases Hole in the Sky. - Canadian Music Blog

"The stories they write are universally human..."

Sometimes I come across a band that writes such astounding lyrics that I can’t help but love their music. Before the Flood is capable of writing lyrics that not only captivate listeners, but come from deep in the heart as the stories they write are universally human. As an added bonus, these songs are set to the most beautiful music that blurs the lines between traditional music genres. - The Voice Magazine, Samantha Stevens

"This isn't a playlist you'll erase..."

This isn't a playlist you'll erase from your iPod Nano a few months after you first hear it, because when you begin to think of the time and effort put into listening to these songs and appreciating them they will likely stay with you forever. - Raised by Gypsies, Joshua Macala

"Strong Vocal Harmonies"

They can deliver a full-blooded and dynamic sound, and there are strong vocal harmonies in evidence here. - Kerry Doole, New Canadian Music

"Music of overall warmth"

That was a great set at The Horseshoe. A fresh concoction of roots-inflected rock that bristles with heartfelt energy invoking everything from Wilco, The Band, and The Shins. Merging guitar-led stomps with subtle flourishes of violin, mandolin, and keys, this is music of overall warmth, even working through a rootsy rendition of Good King Wenceslas and a Tom Waits tune. Inhabiting a unique place, the spirit of Americana lives in our own backyard. - Lonely Vagabond (writer for Exclaim & SoundProof)

"Virgin Fest Competition"

"There were certainly a number of bands that really stood out for me... that I thought were really solid." (Regarding The Road to Virgin Fest Top 5 Finalists, which BTF was selected) - Alan Cross (102.1 The Edge)

"CD Review: Bars Wire And Wood (Quarry)"

"Before The Flood's first LP kicks off with a pair of tight, toe-tapping rock songs that caught my attention right away. Both the title track and "The Halls" are shiny and well-produced with slight folk/roots influences, not unlike Wilco or The Shins..." - Chart Attack / Evan Dickson

Hole in the Sky LP - 2015

Bars Wire and Wood LP - 2008

We were the Halls (Single) - 2007

Live Love EP - 2006

Before the Flood's 2nd LP (Hole in the Sky - 2015) is heavy on vocal harmonies, layered strings and deep percussion and bass. Electronic elements and synths add to the rich, and at other times ethereal soundscapes BTF creates through a long-awaited and eclectic 14 song journey.

"Hole in the Sky" has received great reviews and support from CBC and campus radio, charting across the country; and BTF is continuing to tour through Canada in 2016!

BTF's style and performances are constantly evolving but they continue to draw comparisons to Wilco, The Shins, The Weakerthans & Skydiggers.

Before the Flood formed in 2005, and the line-up has fluidly performed with between 4 and 7 members.  The backbone of the band has been strong, diverse songwriting and rich, textured arrangements.

Bars Wire and Wood (2008) had two singles (the title track & The Halls) that charted on college radio across Canada.

Over the last 7 years BTF has been honing their craft throughout Ontario, notably making 15+ appearances at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern (Toronto), 15+ at The Moonshine Cafe (Oakville) & are regulars at NXNE and various summer festivals.
