"John Boone, ReachFM, Ft. Laud., FL"

"City of David is an awesome, high-energy Christian rock band with a unique Dave Mathews meets Maroon 5 sound. They know how to rock, but they also impress with their unplugged, acoustic stylings." - Program Director, ReachFM, Ft. Lauderdale, FL

"George Lower, Director of Music, WPB, FL"

“It has been my privilege to work with City of David on several projects and concert events. This band definitely has a heart for the Lord and a desire to reach out to youth who are bombarded with so many negative images in our society. David Quiles’ songwriting is lyrical and innovative; and, he is able to convey his love for Jesus through his music. If you have the chance to host a City of David event you will not be disappointed. Let City of David rock your house and your church will be drawn closer to Christ who is The Rock.” - - Director of Music and Worship, Holy Name of Jesus Church, West Palm Beach, FL

GENRE: Contemporary Christian Rock
LOCATION: W. Palm Beach, Florida

Lead singer/songwriter and musician, David Quiles is the driving force behind CITY OF DAVID. Along with Bob Guss on bass guitar/background vocals, Robert (Bobby G.) Gugliuzza pulling lead guitar duties/lead/background vocals, and Gavin Nelson on drums and background vocals, this is a high energy Christian Rock band. With a Metallica meets Ted Nugent delivery on "Over All The Earth" and the praise God lyrics, you may find yourself singing along and head boppin'. It's well played and well produced. A totally rocking version of "Awesome God" has a southern rock flavor and a fun storytelling lyric. This tune will have you doing some serious bible thumpin' and head bangin'.
It's important to note this band's objective is to deliver the message of our Father's eternal love and with that love we can live truly simple but meaningful lives through Him. Quiles vocals come from the soul and his vocal timber is fitting to the style of music the band plays. "Mercy and Grace" is the stand out song for me. It's pop/rock with a sing along chorus. The uplifting arrangement is dynamic and enjoyable. A softer, gentler City of David can be found on "Amen", where we find a reflecting and thankful Quiles, for God being there, even when no one else is. "Breakaway" is a testament to changing your ways. Putting the past habits of corruption behind and moving forward.
Whether singing about life's challenges or triumphs, City of David delivers a positive reinforcement to it's listeners. This is not a sugar-coated outfit. The sound is straight out hard rock and the message is from the rock. Many Contemporary Christian Rock Bands are more saccharine in their approach, where City of David is in your face. The musicianship is excellent with some fine guitar playing in "Over All The Earth". The band was a part of the Reach FM Concert Series over the summer and have an important two weeks ahead of them right now.
CITY OF DAVID is one of five finalists chosen to perform in Nashville at the Rocketown! Band With A Mission Finals/Showcase on Friday, November 30, 2007. This is a fun hard rocking band sending a powerful message to their listeners. Check out more of CITY OF DAVID at and

CITY OF DAVID: Nothing Watered Down Here
Written by Mike Parker

Link to original article:

It is a common occurrence to hear someone complain that contemporary Christian music is all wishy-washy, watered-down, and camouflaged in an attempt to appeal to a mainstream audience. There might be some validity to that charge in some circles, but I don’t think you have to look very far to find plenty of Christian music that refuses to compromise message for airplay. A good example would be the self-titled debut from Florida-based indie rock band, City of David. No camouflage here. This is straight up rock worship without a hint of wishy-washy to be found.

The tune that is going to get the most attention is their rockified cover of the Rich Mullen classic, “Awesome God.” Trust me, you ain’t heard it like this before. “Mercy and Grace” sports a vibey, wah-wah quality that makes it great as a soundtrack to a road trip. “Incomplete” rocks, “Over All the Earth” rolls, and “Road to Paradise” manages a sixties, Chad and Jeremy ambiance. City of David even manages a bonafide rock worship ballad with “Amen.”

The CD is a bit short. With only seven tracks it is more of an extended EP than a full blown project, but if you are looking to get your fix of Jesus Rock you could do a lot worse.

"Letter of Recommendation 3"

February 4, 2008

Dear Tom and Rachael,
Thank you for helping to make our “Catholic Schools Week” celebration a big success in 2008. Your concert on Thursday, January 31st outside under our large pavilion with our students and staff was outstanding. The “City of David” band was able to connect with first grade all the way through eight grades with no problem.

I was impressed with the way the band engaged the interest of our first through fifth graders during our morning session through music, biblical questions, prizes and just naturally taking a deep interest in our children. Their versatility with the sixth through eight grades during the afternoon session was equally impressive. The choice of music selections, biblical questions and prizes was a winning combination.

The key factor that separates "City of David" from other Christian bands that I have experienced was the powerful witness talk given by Bobby Guss. His honesty, vulnerability and openness to the power of God, along with his witness of conversion of heart, mind and attitude won the hearts of all who listened. It was then that the music which the band played became understandable and identifiable for all who listened. Everyone in the afternoon session listened and could identify which was a powerful moment for band and listeners alike.

Thank you for taking the time to listen to our kids in between sessions, while eating lunch with all the students and signing posters and T-Shirts and encouraging the students to trust God who never, never leaves His flock unattended.

Rachael and Tom, your management and communication style made our planning of this event easy and pain free. Thank you for accommodating all our special needs. What we could not provide you managed to provide. You both were a joy to work with.

Christians of any denomination would be honored to have you play at their event. I look forward to working with your whole group next year and the years to follow. As the pastor of St. Anastasia Catholic Church and School, I feel very comfortable with the band members of "City of David” and their management team, Tom and Rachael Streifel with World Shaker Ministry.

God Bless,

Fr. Rick E George, III, Pastor

"Letter of Recommendation 2"

October 2, 2007

To Whom It May Concern,
This is to recommend City of David Christian rock band. I have had the joy and privilege to be City of David’s pastor now for a number years. They are wonderful Christian people dedicated to the Lord through their music and have built a strong following.

I have the very strongest confidence in David Quiles as leader and front man for the band who unselfishly ministers to others. He and his band have built a wonderful ministry called World Shaker Ministry. He has been involved in the youth ministry of our parish and has been a great blessing to me personally in so many ways.

I know you will not be disappointed if you call upon David and his band, City of David to speak and or play at your church or organization’s next retreat, youth camp or special event.

Sincerely Yours,

Pastor Peter Van Nguyen

"Letter of Recommendation 1"

To Whom It May Concern:
This past Saturday, February 10th, “City of David” surrounded us with their Christian love and lifted our hearts with Godly music at our Whirlwind of Praise outdoor concert. They rocked!

As musicians, they bring a high-level of talent to the Lord's Kingdom. As friends in Christ, they share themselves.

I can't say enough about how they impressed me with their discipleship.

As an example, beyond simply performing, they joined us for our night of prayer two days before the event! We are now Life-friends. Praise God."

Sincerely Yours,

Pastor Steve Whipperman
