Band Rock Punk

"Fresh from the Guelph scene is Crown & Jester with his debut album, “One”. The former bassist for Southern Ontario hardcore punk band Nothing, The Rat, has side-stepped the underground for something more familiar. Now, we have the chance to view Crown & Jester through a new light.

Initially presented as a “pop-punk” album, various reviews have perceived the range of sound from The Smiths to AFI & Sum 41 to Foo-Fighters. A stylistic spectrum that is likely to appeal to any millennial who grew up on Alt Rock in the mid-late ’90’s.

High volume & adrenaline fueled aggression became the essence of his style in live shows. All the momentum that audiences have grown to love is still on full display. Late last year Crown & Jester teamed up in the studio with acclaimed producer & general musical prodigy, Alex Snape, of Unbowed & Nomadic Arts. The production period was brief and thorough & before long the two had completed what will be his debut album, entitled One."

"Ned Flangers, Crown & Jester, Yum Dumpster, SAGES @ DSTRCT – 02/10/2019"

"The second half of the evening starts off with Guelph local tail-wearing punk rock 4-piece, Crown & Jester. Punching out guitar-driven songs that mixes the relentless dynamic pressure of punk, the effluent sonic patterns of alternative rock, and the vocal and structural melodic conscience of pop. Lead guitarist Matt-A-Tron played nifty solid riffs and solos with massive support by the rhythm section, drummer Akul Breeze and bassist Adam Holliday. The spotlight was claimed by their lead vocalist / rhythm guitarist Taylor Kerr, belting out lyrics of robust intensity, sweltering enough to break a sweat."

Crown & Jester: a four-piece rock group from Guelph, ON with a killer combination of soaring vocals, punchy drums, stomping basslines, and raw guitars. Since their inception, they've focused their songwriting approach through a single motto:
"Keep the hooks; trim the fat."

Their shows are an energy-packed, bombastic display of musical prowess, seemingly over in a heartbeat, and leaving the audience wanting more. At a first glance, their music has a bubbly, modern pop-punk sound of the yesteryear. However, descriptions of their music from fans who've attended their live shows often seem ripe with perplexity. "Catchy, yet not annoying", "intricate, yet inviting", and "energetic, but not exhausting" are phrases typically representative of their sound.

Through they've been together for a short time, they've demonstrated a rare ability to keep their audiences engaged through gripping musical hooks and an expressive sonic palette
