"Darnell Little - "Blackamoor""

In his debut project 'Blackamoor,' Darnell Little explores what it means to be a dark-skinned man in today’s America. While the project is a personal narrative that details the trials and tribulations of Little’s life, it also tells a story of strength and perseverance that listeners can draw wisdom from. If the fan takes away knowledge and a sense of personal growth, Darnell Little has accomplished what he set out to do with his music - ThisIs50.com

"INTRODUCING: 5 New Artists To Watch [Week of August 12th]"

Each week the WatchLOUD submissions email is stuffed to the gills with new music from all over the map. The truth is we don’t get to a lot of it, but we try. Of this week’s inquiries that we actually heard, these stood out. Some are affiliated with familiar names, others are reconfigured familiar names and then some are the purest uncut indie who we stumbled upon because the subject line read “Free Pizza.” So take a listen and if you like them, hit them up on their socials and spread the word. - WatchLoud

"DARNELL LITTLE - BLACKAMOOR [ALBUM]"

22 year old Camden, NJ emcee and producer Darnell Little hits us with this dope 16 track debut album "Blackamoor". While homie looks to stay true to Hip Hop and remains reminiscent to the Golden Age, he links with producers myself, Boonie Mayfield, Mute Won, [offbeatninja] and many more. A very worthy effort. - OK- Tho

"Darnell Little Addresses The State Of Hip Hop With “BLACKAMOOR” Album"

In a state of hip hop that is oversaturated with trap beats and club bangers, it feels like breath of fresh ocean air when we find a gem hidden amongst the rubble; a sound we may have forgotten existed in hip hop. Darnell Little of Camden, New Jersey is one of those shining stars we’re waiting to watch explode in the years to come.

As a young kid, music always came naturally to Little – so much so that he was making beats by 10 and writing songs by 12. In those past 10 years since he began songwriting, Little has suffered through depression and turmoil that could’ve torn him down. Instead, he’s found a therapeutic outlet through music that has allowed him to connect and share with people from literally all around the globe.

"[Exclusive] One Throne Interviews @DLittleMusic"

Darnell Little recently released his new LP and we got the opportunity to interview the rising artist! Darnell talks about his favorite albums, favorite movies, his plans for 2016, and more. Check it out below!

1. First of all, introduce yourself to the people!

My name is Darnell Little. 22 yr old introverted Army Brat, who has moved around, but call Camden, NJ my home. I started creating music around the age of 9 and has constantly progressed throughout the years.

2. If you were stranded on an island for the rest of your life and could only take three albums with you, which three would you choose and why?

The three albums I would take with me would be:

“Illmatic” by Nas because of the lyricism, the grittiness and ruggedness yet soulful vibe of the album. It made me feel like I was in New York during the 1990′s and it will forever be a Hip Hop Classic.

“Mm.. Food” by MF Doom because it’s Doom! Lol. The way how he flipped the Cartoon and Food related samples and how he made the album revolve around the food concept is Amazing.

“Reasonable Doubt” by Jay-Z because of the Mafioso theme mixed with the lyricism that Jay possessed is Incredible. This will forever be my favorite Jay-Z album in his catalog.

3. What is your favorite track off your latest EP, “BLACKAMOOR”?

My favorite track off my Debut Album is the 3rd track “ME.” The song talks about my upbringing, my bouts with depression and my self-esteem issues. It’s one of the most personal songs off the album.

4. Where is your “go to” place to eat in Camden, NJ?

My “go to” spot is Frank’s on Broadway. One of the best spots for a cheesecake or hoagie in the city.

5. What are some of your favorite movies of all time?

“Malcolm X”, “Friday”, “New Jersey Drive” are some of my favorite movies. I got a long list but I wanted to keep it short.

6. What do you have planned for the rest of 2016?

Booking shows, promoting the album, shooting a couple visuals and I might release my Instrumental Album “The [sham.gawd] LP” at the end of this year. Trying to close the year out with a bang.

"The Unorthodox D.Little"

TMW: Where are you from?

LITTLE: I was born in Syracuse, NY, moved to Camden, NJ during my childhood and I've been on the move ever since (Army brat purposes). But I'm heavy affiliated with the city of Camden, home to artists such as Big Lou, Fel Sweetenberg, Shakil, DJ Cooley, and Apollo The Great.

TMW: What got you into music/producing?

LITTLE: Video games got me into producing music. As a child, I was always fascinated by the sounds and scores in video games and I started to make beats when I was 9 yrs old.

TMW: Where would you like to see yourself and your music in 3 years?

LITTLE: In 3 years, I see myself growing as an artist and a person. I also want to help expand the Indie Hip Hop Movement and be a mentor to the up-n-comers.

TMW: 5 artists that have greatly inspired you.

LITTLE: The 5 artists that have inspired me are:
- Flying Lotus
- J Dilla
- Nas
- Elzhi
- Tupac

TMW: Upcoming projects?

LITTLE: I have a couple projects I'm working on. I'm planning on dropping my next Instrumental Project "LittleLotus II" (The sequel to my acclaimed Instrumental Project "LittleLotus") this summer, and I'm working on my debut album which is expected to be released at the end of this year or the beginning of 2016.

TMW: Describe your style in 3 words.

LITTLE: Unorthodox, Original, All-Around

TMW: We're sure you're extremely proud of all your material, but is there a song that really sticks out to you for having a little special touch?

LITTLE: The one song that really sticks out to me the most is the song "Destination (Ride)" off my latest EP "XXI". It took me about 2 years to write and come up with a concept for the song. I kept putting the song to the side until one day I decided to pull an All-Nighter in the studio and finished it. The concept of the song is me expressing my thoughts on accomplishing my goals before I leave Earth to reach the astral plane.

TMW: What is your ultimate aim with music? What do you want to accomplish with it?

LITTLE: I aim to reach my full potential as an artist and I want to be one of the greatest musicians to ever live.

TMW: What artists would you love to produce material for or collaborate with?

LITTLE: I would like to collaborate with Roc Marciano, Marv Won, Apollo Brown, oriJanus, yU, Mick Jenkins. That's just the short list of artists I would like to collaborate with.

TMW: Where can people keep up with your musical journey?

"Darnell Little – Q&A Interview"

Tell us a little about yourself. Where you are from? How long have you been making Hip Hop?
I’m Darnell Little, a 20 yr. old MC/ Producer. I was born in Syracuse, NY, flourished in Camden, NJ and has been on the move ever since (army brat). I started producing music around the age of 9 after I heard Just Blaze’s score on “NBA Street Vol. 2″ and started writing songs around the age of 12. (11 years being a musician) My original stage was Atom Ant (named after the 60’s cartoon) and I decided to change my name to Darnell Little to make my stage name have a more personal feel (Darnell is my middle name and Little comes from one of my influences last name “Malcolm X (original name “Malcolm Little”)
What influences you in making Hip Hop?
I get influenced to make music by listening to other musicians’ work, studying different music producers’/ rappers techniques and genres of music (Jazz is my favorite genre other than Hip Hop), going outside… examining my environment and being influenced by life itself.
Describe your music, and what separates you from other MCs?
My music has a “Jazz” and “Experimental” type of feel when it comes to the Instrumental part of the process when I make a song, while my lyrics is complex and conscious. I might go over the average hip hop listener’s head sometimes, but it’s better to be educated while listening to a song. The thing that separates me from other MCs is that I incorporate the themes of life everytime you listen to one of my songs. One song, I’ll talk about relationships, another song I’ll talk about the injustices that Black males go through while living in America, and another song talking about color theory lol. I’m just an all around MC.
Who have you collaborated with? Who would you like to collab with in the near future?
I’ve collaborated with a number of artists. I’ve made records with J. Nolan, VERZE, SageInfinite, Ale-Jhay and Fel Sweetenberg to name a
few. In the future, I would like to collab with Jon Connor (in the process of sending him some instrumentals), Mr. J. Medeiros, Apollo
The Great, oriJanus, and abstraКt ΒΕΔТЅ.

Download Mixtape | Free Mixtapes Powered by DatPiff.com
Your definition of “Underground Hip Hop”?
My definition of “Underground Hip Hop” is Hip Hop that doesn’t sell it’s soul for a quick dollar, Staying true to the elements and exhibiting the love of the art form. The artists in the underground has always been and will forever be more talented than the artists in the mainstream.
Production wise, who are your influences? Who does your production? And who would you like to work with?
I have alot of influences when it comes to the production side. The producers that comes to mind are Flying Lotus, Just Blaze, J-Dilla,
Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Nottz, 9th Wonder, Madlib, Fel Sweetenberg, Boonie Mayfield, Apollo Brown, Knxwledge, Q-Tip, Freddie Joachim, John Coltrane, Ahmad Jamal and Herbie Hancocke (that was alot lol)
Any current or future projects you are promoting?
I’m currently promoting my latest project “XX” and I’m currently working on my debut EP (which is untitled at the moment), which will
be released through Dynamic Beats Abound and will be available on iTunes and Amazon at the end of this year. I’m also handling some of
the production on J. Nolan’s upcoming project.
Can you give us a brief description of the creative process of XX Mixtape? Also/ what was the idea or concept description about your XX Mixtape Art Cover.
The creative process of my project “XX” was a long process. It took me 3 years to put this project together (writer’s block). The title of the project was originally called “A Sheltered Man’s Diary”, but I decided to rename it “XX” because I wanted the theme to talk about the highs and lows of my first 20 years on Earth . The album artwork was created by my sister, Kierra, who is a graphic designer. The concept behind it was to create an intriguing atmosphere for my audience and people who may see it and want to take a listen. The abstract of the cover is inspired by the 90’s era (ex. music, television), when music was raw and at it’s purest form.

"Album Review: Darnell Little – XXI (EP)"

The vibrance in 2015 is strong, fresh & most important youthful. Darnell Little is a young hungry MC making his moves in this game to make sure the longevity will survive. His latest project titled “XXI (EP) displays his inner growth, trials and tribulations on his current experiences in Hip Hop. It serves as a prologue for his upcoming debut album which we are really looking forward too. He really allows all listeners to go right into his mind, body & soul with every song on this project. Consisting of 5 solid songs really making sure that the phrase EP is respected keeping this project short but sweet.
His lyrical ability and original sound is super fresh. “Destination” is by far one of the freshest songs we have heard for 2015 and moving forward. He really keeps the OG Hip Hop sound Boom Bap style at its forefront of his music. One thing to point out are his DOPE samples and drums, allowing his rhymes and songs to really shine. Overall this is a quality project for all Hip Hop heads to enjoy. He is young but clearly he has a bright future ahead of him and trust us, his name will be nationwide very soon!!!!!!!!!!!

In a state of hip-hop that is oversaturated with trap beats and club bangers, it feels like a breath of fresh ocean air when we find a gem hidden amongst the rubble; a sound we may have forgotten existed in hip-hop. GF Anon (formerly known as Darnell Little) of Camden, New Jersey is one of those shining stars we’re waiting to watch explode in the years to come.

His music is described to some as “experimental”, “unorthodox” and heavily influenced by the trials and tribulations of his life. His music also has a “laid-back, “soulful” and "powerful" vibe that most musicians lack in this day and age.
