"This Little Underground: The hip-hop dream team of E-Turn & SPS"

When you're as individually talented as both MC E-Turn and DJ SPS are, it would be easy to be a prima donna. E-Turn's rapping is so dazzling that she could electrify as just a track act. Likewise, as a decorated battle champ who can ignite a room by himself, SPS doesn't necessarily need a partner either. So credit them both for seeing the greater possibility beyond those nominal solo baselines.

While E-Turn and SPS already add up to a dream team of Orlando hip-hop on paper, the duo is absolutely exponential in reality. I say this even though I believe they've only begun to actualize their collective potential. The special creative and presentational power they pack together is the kind of formidable alignment that only comes around once in a long while.

They're no ordinary twosome and the unveiling of their second joint album, ESP, was, fittingly, no typical rap show (July 10, the Social). Besides having a full live jazz-funk band (Leisure Chief) among the opening parade, Swamburger & Rubox – another mighty marriage of hip-hop talent – added a fresh, conceptual fold to the mix. With turntable, MPC and film projector, the two scored the visual, non-narrative documentary Samsara with ambient beat voyages designed to match the striking imagery.

The closer it got to the main event, however, the kind of energy singular to significant hometown events gathered visibly. During the final intermission before the headliner, a nice break circle opened up. Bodies were popping, DJ Sureshot was peaking, cameras came out and things got hot. Once E-Turn & SPS came out and dropped, the room lifted off. - Orlando Weekly

"This Little Underground: Perspective and highlights from the Florida Music Festival"

One of the hottest FMF showcases I saw was the one curated by MC/impresario/scene beacon Swamburger (April 17, The Social). The rappers who individually shined the most were E-Turn and Madd Illz. Without the flash of her star DJ partner SPS, E-Turn did a set that actually exhibited how truly on-rails her flow is in the raw and why she’s one of most gifted rappers in the underground right now. And the battle-cut Madd Illz – with his aggressive, technical style – just outclassed everyone who dared stand next to him. - Orlando Weekly

Bio

E-Turn’s diverse background in cultural music stems from a lifelong
journey through Persian vocals, tribal drumming, Iranian poetry, and
lyrical Jazz. With family members well versed in these arts as well as
instrumentation, E-Turn was raised to bring a unique, well rounded, and
worldly sound to the Hip-Hop culture. Greatly influenced by icons like
Nas, Lauryn Hill, and A Tribe Called Quest, E-Turn’s sound echoes the
essence of true Hip-Hop & masterfully bridges the gap between
staccato rap and soulful vocals.

E-Turn is now in full bloom after releasing two full-length albums,
“Dark Trust” (2013) & “ESP” (2015). Continuing to progress in
creative projects and partnerships, E-Turn is in the forefront of
Orlando’s female Hip-Hop artistry with Second Subject Recordings, (led
by Solillaquists of Sound front man, Swamburger).

E-Turn has collaborated in the past with groups such as Solillaquists
of Sound, Beautiful Chorus (a group of 12 women who harmonize to the
frequency of positive vibrations for intentional world healing), &
DJ SPS (a former member of the classic Orlando Hip-Hop group
“Andromeda”, and a USA DMC Supremacy battle champion). She has toured
with musical acts such as Blueprint (Rhymesayers), Dessa (Doomtree), The
Chicharones (Oldominion), and has also performed at festivals such as:
A3C, Van’s Warped Tour, and The Florida Music Festival.
