"J. Graves record release and pressing"

J.Graves' Record Release & Pressing

J. Graves is currently raising funds to get their record Marathon pressed. While supporting a queer, female-fronted band is always a good cause, J. Graves has the kind of talent and heart you can’t help but root for. Their recently released “A Cabin” is a powerful rock ballad, full of the highs and lows any good emotional rock song should deliver. Lead guitarist and vocalist Jessa Grave’s voice is weighted down with tension and vulnerability. However, she keeps up a high energy level as she blends her voice in with the more animated beat produced by the bass and drums. The song is full of the nuanced technical balance that can only result from great chemistry between the members. Together, they produce the sort of rock we want to see more of in the world.

You can find a link to the Kickstarter here, and you can see the band live April 18th at the Bit House Saloon. Childspeak and Foxtails Brigade will also be playing sets. - The Deli Portland

Bio

If you don’t believe in second chances then you don’t believe in J. Graves. After a four year writing hiatus front woman Jessa Graves (HelloKopter) returns to her purpose with the first full-length record of her musical career. Heavily influenced by Karen O, PJ Harvey, Emily Haines and other indie / Post Punk heavy hitters, she sings with the most heart wrenchingly beautiful grit you can get. You’ll dance, you’ll cry, you’ll feel everything you never wanted - but you’ll surely feel thankful that you got it. J. Graves makes sweet and agonizing garage rock for the ghosts of lovers past. Jessa is joined by longtime friend Barret Stolte (TheGoodsons, Interlopers) and timely new friend Aaron McDonald (Volumes) on drums

Writing, performing, and recording music is in Graves’ blood and will forever be her lifeblood. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, her mother was a musician and recording artist. She can remember waking up in studios, sleepy-eyed, with the feeling that this was her home. Watching her mother build a small independent label, release her own records, and tour the country - Graves knew this would too be her destiny.
