"Local Feature: John Chuck & The Class"

It is not often a duo can create such a unique blend of hip-hop and indie pop. It’s happened with similar artists such as Chiddy Bang and Twenty One Pilots, and now it’s happening again with John Chuck & The Class. Made up of Minnesota-grown JC "John Chuck" Stroebel and Henry "The Class" Donato, this Twin Cities duo has been creating contemporary indie hip-hop since they were tots in the tub together.

The group’s local success started to take off when they won a local studio contest at Humans Win! Recording Studio, where they beat out over 120 artists. Propelled forward by this accomplishment, the duo just released their lead single “Business as Usual” on Dec. 11th. The track was already featured by my buddy Jordan Alamat over at 101.3 KDWB, and on the University of Washington’s college radio “Rainy Dawg Radio” with Ania Kamkar.

The lead single “Business As Usual”, which was mastered by Huntley Miller (Divergent Original Motion Picture Soundtrack, Zedd, Hippocampus), is a fun, upbeat track with classic R&B and hip hop elements that contain swooping pop hooks and gripping melodies. The track not only entices the listener to appreciate what’s unique about John Chuck & The Class, but creates an environment of witty humor that leaves them feeling animated and inspired.

"Minneapolis-based indie hip hop duo JOHN CHUCK & THE CLASS"

Minneapolis-based indie hip hop duo JOHN CHUCK & THE CLASS have a funky new four-song EP that they’re super proud of. It all started when they won a demo contest with a local studio: “We never were glamorous,” says Henry Donato, a.k.a. The Class, “but in the past year since we’ve won that contest, our random little hip hop project has turned some heads in the local music community.” Now, the duo is aiming to make the project a little less random and a lot less little — “to get our music out to the right people the right way”.
