"The Harry Von Zells Debut"

The Harry Von Zells: This is a new Pittsburgh band, which we can trust to be solid based on the personnel: Singer-bassist Mike Shanley (ex-Love Letters, Bone of Contention), guitarist Erik Cirelli (Emily Rodgers Band, Skeletonized, Chad Sipes Stereo), keyboardist Michael Cunningham (Neighbours, Cynics, Nox Boys) and drummer Nathan Figlar (also in Truckster). “We're playing the sort of noisy indie pop of which I'm very fond. It's tempting to call it bubblegum noise, though it's not that light,” Shanley says. The namesake is a radio announcer in the '40s and '50s who appeared on “The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show.” The debut is at Howler’s, Bloomfield, with Benefits and Stars of Disaster. 9 p.m. - pittsburgh post-gazette
