Slime Kings were conceived in 2008, in Costa Mesa California, out of the instinctual love of early ska, reggae, punk & rock'n' roll. Born shortly after the dissolution of hardcore punk band DSNF with Max Patterson (bass), Adam Merchain (guitar), & Kyle Molina (ex-Slime Kings front man) from with the only new member being Mike Wolfe on the drums.

The industrial district in Costa Mesa,in which they lived and rehearsed at the only house in the area, coincidentally crossing paths with legendary surf board shaper Robin Kegel (Gato Heroi), and the keyboard player of the then up and coming Growlers. Frequent parties and backyard shows uprooted the status quo, and out of the mayhem emerged Eric Jimenez, local guitarist and soon to be standing lead singer of Slime Kings.
They could not have been, more different than the scene happening around them. While the Growlers got bigger and bigger, along with a sea of other bands in a kind of "neo-hippy" movement (My Pet Saddle, The Grand Elegance, Japanese Motors, etc.), Slime Kings were there with Mohawks and cheetah print pants, inspired by Operation Ivy, The Specials, and Bad Brains. They threw the only punk shows in the area at the (now defunct) Evocal Art Collective and old Detroit Bar.
Singer Kyle Molina left the group to pursue a more hard core approach with Modern Enemy. Eric Jimenez (front man) jumped in and the final line up was complete with Mike Wolfe (drums), Max Patterson (bass & vocals), Adam Merchain  (guitar & vocals).

They recorded their first E.P. at the Growlers studio with their then bass player Scott Montoya at the controls, and have since grown and evolved into a monster, both on and off stage, making the top five in the OCMA's Best Live Band competition, and opening for acts as large as Dwayne Peters, Robbie Krieger (The Doors), Reel Big Fish, Left Alone, and The Untouchables.

Their songs and influences range from funk, to rock and rollpunk, ska, reggae, and everything in between, and from the stage to the headphones you can expect high energy and hooks that stick in your head for years to come.
