Band R&B Funk

Still working on that hot first release.

The RPS Band is composed of professional musicians dedicated to creating great grooves. We play R&B, funk, soul, jazz, rock, and latin music and approach it all with care and artistry.

We play a repertoire of songs that can range from the fifties through today, and we add our own arrangements and ideas – and we also mix in some of our original music as well.

We love concerts and festivals, but we’ll bring RPS to clubs, parties, and any events with people looking to have a great time with live music.

Some info about the band:

Alvin Terry’s music is rooted in Funk, R&B, Jazz and Gospel. He has played and recorded with Archie Shepp and received drumming tips and concepts from Max Roach. Alvin has also performed with Ricky Ford, Marian Brown,Claude Williams, Dakota Staton, and Valerie Pomaroff. He is a member of the music ministry at Grant AME church in Boston, Massachusetts and books music for a variety of clients as the owner of FlamTap Enterprises. Alvin plays percussion for numerous occasions as well as several annual events. These include The Three Kings Production in Boston, Mass. at The Berklee Performance Center featuring trumpet player John Faddis; and All That Jazz, a yearly concert on Martha’s Vineyard which features vocalists Armstead Christian and Shawn Montiero. He was featured on Eric In The Evening recently and one of his original works, Faith In One, recieved special recognition.

Patrick Mottaz, a Swiss-born resident of Newton, is an excellent guitarist for any style of music you can think of. He is a Summa Cum Laude graduate of Berklee’s Music Performance Program, and teaches professionally as well as being an active performer.  His influences include Wes Montgomery, Pat Metheny, Sylvain Luc, Wayne Shorter, and Bill Evans.

Doug Rich is from the Midwest, and he spent much time there playing with local jazz legends like Ray Felder and Woody Evans, and Gospel artists including Charles Fold and Donald Lawrence. Since moving to Boston and graduating from Berklee College of Music Doug has been playing all over New England in numerous genres and with many musicians, but is most excited about what RPS is building right now.

Lynne Miller… born to musicians; raised in jazz environment; singing since nursery school; life-long vocalist in local church choirs and gospel groups; RPS member since 2016.

Zoë Krohne took her first steps towards life as a professional musician at age 17. As a college student in St. Louis she formed the duo Zoë and Cory, performing original music throughout the Midwest. Simultaneously, she pursued a degree in music performance and contributed to various bands ranging in styles from roots Americana and blues to rock n’ roll, opening for such acts as The Byrds and Ani DiFranco. More recently, in addition to her work with RPS, Zoë has worked regularly with local jazz saxophonist, Willie Sordillo, and has been a featured vocalist at numerous community gatherings, including Boston’s Pride celebration honoring Sen. Elizabeth Warren, two “Services of Resiliency” to support survivors of the Boston Marathon tragedy, an inter-faith service of healing at Trinity Church following the election in 2016, and for Mass General Hospital’s annual Black History Month celebration.
