You can’t help admire independent musician that grinds. And that’s HARLOW in a nutshell. While she’s a relatively new to the pop music scene, the work has been put in. Ever since trying her hand at songwriting at the age 14, she found it was her favorite past time and soon performed everywhere she could.

“I’ve tried out for every TV show and contest you can think of. You name it, I’ve probably done it”, she says. Eventually, she landed within a talent circuit that gave her an opportunity to play shows all over the state of Nebraska and would travel hours just to get to perform 3 or 4 songs. “It wasn’t glamorous but it gave me some invaluable experiences and I loved every second of it”. - Z93 - Jesse (93.3 FM WIZM)

"It's Only The Beginning For Singing Sensation, HARLOW"

On one of my very first trips to Nashville at age 14, a much older and seasoned musician looked at me with sympathetic eyes and said, “Once you get bit by the music bug, you never get it out of your system”, and he was absolutely right.

For me, getting into music was simultaneously the most natural and yet abnormal thing I’ve ever done. That “music bug” was in me from day 1 but I don’t come from a musical family so I had to do a lot of convincing to get my parents to take me seriously at first. It only took a few times of being kicked off the soccer fields for singing and day-dreaming for them to see that their “little athlete” might actually be an entertainer instead. They finally got the picture a few years later and have been on board ever since!

Because I had to work so hard just to get the chance to start pursuing my dreams I have a huge appreciation for getting to do what I do. After nearly 10 years of visiting Nashville (and living there for 4 of those) I finally found what I was looking for the whole time: myself. There was lots of trial and error but all of it led me to where I am at now. So to anyone wanting to get into this industry I can honestly say just stay the course and stick with it! I’ve had so many doors open because of the power of the internet and apps like TikTok, where I have gained close to 70k followers. You can see how listeners are really gaining the power to choose who pop’s off and who doesn’t. We, as music consumers, have a lot more say than we’ve ever had before so there’s never been a better time to go for it!

Now, I am overjoyed to be releasing music and it is only the beginning! Releasing my first single “Haunted Houses” in October last year was actually so terrifying but so liberating. The song is a light-hearted and lyrically clever take on dealing with your inner demons and realizing that sometimes the biggest obstacle you have is yourself. I knew I wanted to write a song about mental health but I didn’t want it to perpetuate the sadness. I wanted it to be more playful and upbeat so that it makes you feel better! Seeing this song gain traction on radio stations this year has been really cool especially since I am still an independent artist. It can be really hard to break through FM radio but I have a handful of FM stations that are now playing “Haunted Houses” in their rotation and seeing it win multiple fan voted contests has also been such a highlight for me!

My latest single “Dirty Mouth” is relatable for anyone on dating nowadays as it addresses the issues of commitment and catching feelings which often feels so taboo in today’s dating culture. This song is basically me making fun of myself for promising to not get involved with anyone and then immediately finding myself getting attached to someone new. Vocally this song is so much fun to play with and really hits the perfect combination of soulful and spunky. Lyrically, it feels really confessional which is definitely a format I intend to keep using in my songwriting.

One more single is on the way, set to release in early April 2021, and I am eager to keep writing and growing. This is a very exciting time for me and there has been such an outpouring of support that I am eternally grateful for! - Music Talks

Just writing about this topic makes me so excited because the deprivation of live shows due to Covid-19 has been brutal and I am impatiently awaiting the return of live shows – as is everyone! To me, doing live shows is probably the second most important thing next to having great songs. Live shows give you the opportunity to connect with your fans in an unforgettable way and win people over if they’ve never heard of you before. There is no shortage of amazing artists and narrowing down my ultimate tour lineup is tough, so I decided to only name artists that I have actually seen live. Putting on a live show is a magical thing and I love seeing shows that have great visuals or storytelling components to them. So, in no particular order I would probably have these incredible artists in my line up:

Taylor Swift – need I say more? She is an incredible and captivating performer. I’ve seen her in concert 5 times and I don’t think I have ever seen someone put on such a well-thought-out and thoroughly enjoyable show like she does. She’s the pinnacle of what it means to be an entertainer to me. Her shows get your emotions involved because her songs connect with so many of us on such an intimate level. Getting to experience that with thousands of other die-hard fans is indescribable. You feel connected and understood. And isn’t that why all of us want to create music anyways? She does it flawlessly and I would just be honored to have any type of show involving her.

Next up, the Jonas Brothers! My inner fangirl is coming out right now but what else can you expect when talking about these incredibly talented guys?! I saw them in 2019 on the Happiness Begins Tour and I will tell you I was shook for days at how incredible that show was! It is so special when a band or artist gets to grow up with their fans because it creates this whole other dynamic. All of us in the audience had distinct childhood memories with their songs and we will always cherish that. The boys did an absolutely phenomenal job putting on that show from the live vocals and musicianship, to the production and lighting, it was unforgettable.

Undoubtedly, the next artist I would have to have is Shania Twain. I feel so lucky I got to see her on the Rock This Country Tour because she is one of my biggest idols and inspirations ever since I was a little kid. I actually grew up on country music before I discovered pop and she was one of the first artists that I ever saw blur the line of pop and country which was so profound for me. Shania is a legend and absolutely slays her performances. Everyone needs to have at least one legend in their line up right? She’s mine.

I’d also have to have Bebe Rexha on my lineup because honestly, we are just two best friends that haven’t met yet. And who doesn’t want to perform with their best friend?! I love her story, I love her personality and her style. I’d like to adopt her as my big sister. Not to mention, she is an amazing songwriter which is one of my favorite things about her. Watching her live show was an absolute blast and she brought a fan up on stage to dance with her and I love when artists do that!

The list could go on and on! I mean Halsey, Dua Lipa, Carrie Underwood, Lady Gaga, Adele, Billie Eilish, Lewis Capaldi, Florida Georgia Line, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Lopez… just to name a few! I’d like to have them all! Playing shows is my favorite part about being an artist so I will continue to dream and one day maybe I will be lucky enough to experience this for real! - Digital Tour Bus - Joshua Weidling
