"Boston's Own Bat House Releases Psychedelic Leaning Music Vid For "Patterns" Live @ Berklee"

"...it was great to get acclimated to their playing style and musical intrigue that is filled with mystical melodies and echoing vocals strewn about that creates an air and mystique about this band that you can't quite describe." - MusicBoxPete

"New Berklee Video with Bat House"

Bat House, who describe their music as “cosmic rock,” paint a fireworks show across a night sky in their new recording of “Patterns” at Berklee. Guitar licks fizzle, flicker, and pop over echoic vocals in a darkened studio. A racing drum beat sends out electric ripples of sound that become more frenetic as the song progresses. - The Sound of Boston

"PURPLE BAT WINGS: BAT HOUSE TALKS BREAKING INTO THE BOSTON SCENE"

Interview in DigBoston Magazine - Anna Marketti | DigBoston

"Bat House "Twist""

"Boston-based post-rockers Bat House have been keeping busy in 2015, and the retro-psychedelic video for “Twist” is great evidence to that effect. I first met this rad bunch playing a house show on their turf earlier this year, and I must insist to any and all readers that you go out and see them live – their performance is unmistakably genius, and their energy will stick with you for days. In fact, while I’m talking about their live shows, I probably should mention that they’re playing a gig at The Middle East in Cambridge with Dent, Gamma Pope (also NSM favorites), and Big Boy Club.
The track begins with a furiously jangling guitar part panned far left as multiple black-and-white landscape squares flit around on the screen – color is added as the vocals come in (“and all the people you knew are twisting away”), which lends for a really nice initial sense of resolution and building-up-toward. It’s really hard to describe the vibe that the music conveys; it’s at once hectic and technicolor (lots of notes and riffing with rapid finger-picking, if I’m not mistaken) but also somehow relaxed and driving, like really hyperactive driving music. The video definitely lends itself to a journey-like feel, seeing as we’re treated to many a landscape flashing by (alongside much less intelligible glitch-hazed images) in a many-colored impressionistic sequence. In any case, I’ll shut up and let you start enjoying this video for at least a little while. It’s a good one.

Keep up with Bat House on facebook, and don’t forget to check them out at The Middle East on January 18!" - -Jonathan Ben-Menachem | No Smoking Media

"Bat House, Elizabeth Colour Wheel, Floral @ Cafe 939"

"It’s tempting sometimes to think that everything that can be done with the electric guitar has been done. Power chords have been powered, solos shredded, math rock equations written into fretboards the world over. Hearing a band like Floral, then, you think: huh, maybe there’s some new ground to be broken after all. Landing somewhere on the American Football/TTNG, Floral weaves lush curtains of guitar melodies, with impassioned, insistent drums kicking the songs up and into the lower stratosphere. Float along with floral; groove out to the spacey trippiness of Bat House; and headbang with wild abandon with Elizabeth Colour Wheel at Cafe 939. This is an all ages deal, so tell the kiddos to pack some earplugs and get ready to learn all about how guitars can cause a bad case of the feelings when you least expect it." - Adam Asher | The Boston Hassle

"Premiere: Bat House "Twist" Video"

"Bat House has emerged from their usual home of cavernous basements in Allston to present us with a new video for their song “Twist” off their upcoming LP due out next spring. The song was produced by Brandon Hafetz this past summer. The Bat House homies are on tour right now, but you can celebrate their return on January 18th at the Middle East Upstairs with Dent, Gamma Pope and Big Boy Club. Watch the video and/or stream the new song below!" - -Christine Varriale | Allston Pudding

"Illegally Blind Presents: Dent, Gamma Pope, Bat House, Big Boy Club @ The Middle East Upstairs"

"Illegally blind is once again grabbing our attention and starting off 2016 with a continued push to highlight not only AMAZING national and international acts but also the best home grown tunes Beantown has to offer. In what has become their stomping grounds, Jason Trefts and crew bring together some experimental metallic space rock for us TONIGHT at Middle East Up. Attending a show here is intimate, yes I said it. The space fits like just over 100 people and creates a decidedly “non venue” vibe. It’s the perfect environment to get up close and personal with one of Boston’s tightest new bands DENT. The quartet’s other worldly brand of post metal fueled punk is jagged, abrasive, and demands your gaze. They’re laying down their loud-quiet-loud thunderstorms alongside post-indie noise poppers Gamma Pope. Plus the friendly multi-instrumental jams of Boston’s sway inducing Bat House and bubbly punkers Big Boy Club. There’s something about that dirty water that keeps producing mind bending rock bands in this city and tonight is a straight up showcase of some blossoming local talent you’re sure to be hearing more about in the coming months. So come on out and show your support!" - -Michael Achille | Boston Hassle

"Boston's Bat House Flies in Monday"

"...Bat House's song forms don't exactly follow the standard verse-chorus-verse rock band template. But they're present under the shifting angular rhythms laid down by bassist and vocalist Emmet Hayes and drummer Pompy, and the tactile guitars of Shane Blank and Ally Juleen..." - -John Chacona | GoErie.com

"Interview with Bat House - "What is there not to love?""

"Bat house is an upcoming self-described “psychedelic and math-rock” band, with an incredibly unique set of lyrics and spacy sounds. You would never guess that they record most of their music in their own basement in Allston (Boston)- most of the tracks sound clean, with just the right amount of vocal echo. They are relatively new, just beginning their career in August of 2014- but they have the vibe of a more experienced band. This may be simply because of their dynamic. The band draws a lot of inspiration from the relationship the four share- Ally (guitar), Pompy (drums), Emmet (bass) and Shane (guitar) are great friends, and the harmony they share shows through in the harmony of their first EP, “Ghosts” (Oct. 2014)..." - -Erini Katopodis | The Grain

"Video Premiere: Bat House Spare Room Session"

"Not only is the group’s live performance of “Chemical X” awesome to the ear. It’s well-captured in the video, DIY aesthetic and all.

Punkadelic four-piece Bat House is jumping off a fall release of their EP ghosts, a four-song and low-key rhythmic masterpiece." - -Becca DeGregorio | Allston Pudding

"Bat House Shreds "Chemical X" Live on Spare Room Session"

"Fitz Ross Productions recently caught up with local punkadelic four-piece Bat House to present a live performance of the group’s song, “Chemical X,” which, in case you haven’t heard, falls somewhere between mellow math rock anthem and driving, utterly punk-as-fuck spectacle. Special shout out to guitarist Shane Blank for grooving so hard that it actually looked like he was in a considerable amount of pain." - -Billy Restivo | Sound of Boston

"Bands Ask, Bands Answer"

"Embark on a galactic journey that lands you at Cafe 939 at Berklee this Friday. You’ll enter a mysterious chamber filled to the brim with rock thanks to the likes of Bat House, Sports and Floral. This show is spectacular and what better way to celebrate than a fun game of telephone with the bands performing.." - Christine Varriale | Allston Pudding

Bio

Bat House is a Boston-based cosmic quartet who is shapeshifting and trailblazing their own brand of genre-bending psych rock. The band fearlessly pushes the envelope in their eccentric recordings and all encompassing live shows. Beginning at a young age, Alexandra Juleen (Las Vegas), Emmet Hayes (Los Angeles), Nicole Pompei (Pittsburgh), & Shane Blank (St. Pete, FL) each made music in their respective cities. the four crossed paths at Berklee College of Music, and together became fully immersed in the gritty and colorful world of Boston’s music scene.

The four moved into a house together, thus embarking on their musical journey into basement recording and underground shows. Throughout the band’s 2 years in their house turned venue turned recording studio turned music oasis, Bat House wrote, recorded, and produced their locally acclaimed debut self-titled record. the Four displaced basement dwellers’ hunger for big sounds brought Bat House to the surface.

On nights not spent recording, the house held shows featuring local and touring independent bands for crowds of sweaty, music loving college students. The friendships formed at these shows allowed Bat House to tour throughout North America, hit events like SXSW along the way, and come home to rowdy & electric sold out shows.

Since releasing ‘bat house,’ the band has moved into a new musical dungeon displaced in Boston dedicated to curating and cultivating their sound. It is here they shape new music until they hit the road this fall touring with new and ever evolving live performance.
