Black Rhino Riot – “The Hook” [Listen]
We drink a bottle and we feel the love
We drink a bottle but it’s not enough
I first stumbled upon this new band from Guelph when they opened for San Sebastian in December. The four-piece have a catchy indie rock sound and their first EP Truth is available now for free download. It’s so catchy, I had trouble choosing which song from it to include. It was mastered by Nick Blagona at local studio Jukasa (which won “Recording Studio of the Year” at last year’s HMA’s and is one I’d love to visit). Bonus track: Black Rhino Riot’s cover video of T-Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” (the board game is the perfect touch). - I Heart Hamilton

Black Rhino Riot – “In Your Head”
I want to be the one that’s in your head
Pop punkers Black Rhino Riot (from Hamilton/Guelph) are back with a solid new EP, In Your Head. The band just celebrated its release last month as they were on the road playing a bunch of dates including Oshawa, Toronto, Hamilton, and all the way out east to Halifax, Moncton, and Charlottetown. You can hear how much the band has strengthened in the short time they’ve been together. They’ve really been honing their chops and the result is a catchy EP that I enjoyed right from my first listen. - I Heart Hamilton

"Black Rhino Riot "In Your Head" (video)"

Hamilton-based four-piece Black Rhino Riot have unveiled a clip for their latest single "In Your Head" — from a forthcoming EP of the same name — and you can check it out right here on Exclaim.ca.

The band formed while the members were attending the University of Guelph, and sum up their current status as "making their juvenile selves proud, their parents disappointed, and loving every minute of it."

They also pride themselves on having yet to write a slow song. The pattern continues on "In Your Head," which proves to be an upbeat, keyboard-boosted garage rocker. Fittingly, the video sees the band performing in a garage, taking pause to enjoy Black Rhino Riot homemade brews and karate chop some styrofoam.

There's some additional footage of the group going for a stroll along the train tracks and lounging around with a few more beers. It finishes up by moving the party from the garage into the house, and you can watch it all go down in the player below. - Exclaim

Their music is catchy and fun, and has been likened to bands such as The Strokes, The Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party and Weezer. Their high energy performance and sense of humour can be enjoyed by just about every age group. Jon, Jamie, Clif, and Adam are swiftly carving their place in the southern Ontario music scene. These 4 young adults are making their juvenile selves proud, their parents disappointed, and are loving every minute of it.

BLACK RHINO RIOT is actively playing shows around Southern Ontario and has recently played with PUP, The Reason, The Johnstones, (U) the Band, Seas, Thought Beneath Film, Bootleg Glory and San Sebastian (from MuchMusic series disBAND).

In October 2014, BRR released their second EP titled "In Your Head". It was recorded at Jukasa Studios in Caledonia Ontario. It was produced by Marco Bressette (from Dead Tired) and mastered by Darren Magierowski.
