"AWARD WINNING SONGWRITER MAKES A BREAK"

Bob Ballard recently received the honor of being named the August 2004 Winner by the Song of the Year ( http://www.songoftheyear.com/ ) songwriting contest. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize Bob for his exceptional songwriting ability for the song “Wondering.” Bob competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song Bob commented that “I was thinking about what it would be like to live my dreams, to have every day be filled with joy and wonder. I wrote the song to express those feelings.”

Currently Bob is concentrating on his music career while hoping to place his music in film, TV and other projects. “I want to inspire others and have my music be an expression of the peace and beauty which exists in every person in the world.”

Bob's studio, Pulstar Audio [url]www.pulstaraudio[/url], is moving to a great location, and with its new partners, opening the Sound & Vision Learning Resource Center in Ojai, CA! Although still in the formulation stage, the Center will provide an array of Pre- and Post Production services including music arrangement, production and artist development; video edit and music sync. We will also be hosting exciting, innovative music and creative arts workshops using the latest computer training technologies and experienced creative professionals. Song of the Year is an international songwriting contest supporting VH-1’s Save the Music Foundation. The Song of the Year judges are some of the biggest names in music including many Grammy Award winners.

Song of the Year is excited to recognize Bob for his exceptional songwriting ability for the instrumental song “Silences.” Bob competed against songwriters from all over the world for this honor. When asked what inspired the song Bob commented that “Silences was inspired by the tremendous courage of the cancer patients I met at a clinic who were receiving chemotherapy.”

Currently Bob said he is “concentrating on my music career while hoping to get my songs published and my music placed in films and TV shows.”

Bio

Bob has been playing guitar and singing his songs for decades. Early in his career, Bob spent several years studying jazz guitar and piano. He played with several progressive rock, pop and R & B bands and developed a solo act which is the foundation for his current stage performance. Bob writes and performs a variety of styles within the soft rock/acoustic genre. His music ranges from intricate acoustic guitar pieces to classic pop melodies to bluesy jazz rock. Over the years, Bob has absorbed influences from an eclectic array of artists including Eric Clapton and Bob Dylan, jazz artists like Stan Getz and Wes Montgomery and blues greats like B.B. King and John Lee Hooker. Bob’s voice has an interesting timbre which ranges from soft and warm to bold and bluesy. In addition to his outstanding guitar work, Bob also plays keyboards with a particular affection for the piano.
