It’s a song that anyone can relate to, and a reminder that whatever path you choose to follow in life, is your own. Byrdy’s journey began when they unveiled their first album, self-titled “Byrdy”, unleashing a whirlwind of emotions through their music. But, the stage is where Byrdy truly shines. "Misery Review"

Byrdy brings us “Misery”

Starting with the striking keys of a grand piano is a bold way to grab your attention and it works well for Byrdy. Their latest single, Misery, is the haunting of a ghost that has not yet passed. Stuck in purgatory and floating between the depth and the light, this track similarly, ebbs and flows. Frontwoman Robyn’s vocals build to crescendo in the chorus. According to Robyn the song is “a soul stirring anthem about not fitting in, the feeling of being on the outside and the emotional weight it carries.” More music from Byrdy this year and we will keep you posted. Tickets are available now for their show at Tail of the Junction September 29. Check out Misery right here.

"Misery - Release Review"

Oshawa’s Female-Fronted Byrdy Shares New Single, “Misery”

Oshawa, ON-based female-fronted five-piece rock band, Byrdy has unveiled their latest single, “Misery.”

The band shares,

“It’s a soul-stirring anthem about not fitting in, the feeling of being on the outside looking in, and the emotional weight it carries. Prepare to be moved.”

Review

From the start of “Misery,” the lyrics “Always on the fray, Never knowing what to say,” establishes the groundwork for a journey of self-exploration.

The commanding yet melancholic female vocals join forces with the introspective lyrics, diving deep into themes of self-realization, inner turmoil, and the relentless pursuit of truth.

The chorus takes center stage within the song, with its recurrent line, “The patterns that are leading me” emphasizing the notion of recognizing recurring behaviors or choices that may be causing distress or turmoil. Using this lyrical repetition, the chorus leaves a lasting impact and reinforces the song’s themes of introspection and the pursuit of truth.

Overall, “Misery” is a thought-provoking track that will likely appeal to a broad range of audiences, from rock to metal and beyond. - Canadian Beats

"Dissipate Review"

“Dissipate” is a dark and gothic force of nature that will have your head banging from start to finish. There is a wonderful balance here between the light and airy sections with the piano, and the hard rocking distorted guitars and heavy drums. I was caught off guard when the guitars came blasting in but immediately, I was rocking out to the tight rhythm shared by the guitars and drummer. The atmosphere of this song is truly epic with a strong sense of emotion at its core.

Lyrically, singer Robyn White is singing about the deep level of frustration experienced when in a one-sided relationship. The lyrics are so vivid in their description yet vague enough to allow the listener to relate to them in their own unique way. The lyrics pull from this idea of vanishing over time. Robyn white’s lyrics use this to create relatable metaphors that are expressive and poetic. “And I can’t keep running down this road, chasing after clouds, the closer I get, the further I fall, then dissipate.” Often when we are so in love with someone, we lose a sense of ourselves. The more we chase them, the more we start to disappear.

The song begins with a really beautiful piano and guitar duet that are so well balanced they almost sound as if they are one instrument. Their unified sound creates a very pad-like texture that is ambient and atmospheric. The bridge of the song features a very grand guitar solo that once again is wonderfully balanced with the piano. While the piano plays a consistent rhythm of arpeggios, the guitar is bending slowly and hitting dissonant harmonies that contrast with the pianos more angelic-like nature.
Robyn White’s vocals are commanding and powerful, you can just see fire surrounding her on stage as she belts out those epic vocal lines. The harmonies add a really nice layer to the vocals as well, creating tension and release. “Dissipate” is a heavy rocking track that packs a punch and leaves you with a lot to think about. - Indie Vibe
