"Civx- sonic dynamics"

(fresh musical) force is strong in CIVX. They came highly recommended by an industry insider and did not disppoint on investigation. Live in session for TheZineUK; Sal Guti – Guitar. Dillion Dominguez – Vocals/Guitar, Joel Guerrero – Drums and Clay Samalin - Bass. CIVX are in possession of an impressive fusion of intricate but intense sonic dynamics. Their driven alt rock means business from the first note. An interplay of aural textures, urgent rhthms, hooky licks and tribal vocals. Impressively performed in one flow; 'In Trance', 'King Me', 'Mary Braggs' and 'Abacus'.
Formed last year, CIVX find themselves playing some credible shows and attracting the attention of the right ears. With their intricate styles, they found themselves on the bill at last year's Tacheva Block Party. This is a Palm Springs open-air concert, scheduled between the two Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival weekends, with over 10,000 people in attendance. Not only that, they made such an impression that they were then invited to play at the globally reknown Coachella Festival along side many prominent bands. That's a strong start and no mean feat for newcomeers. The drive fused into aiming for quality didn't go un-noticed.

2015

CIVX released their eponymous first EP recently, one of the songs, /Smoke Rings' was remastered by Rhys Downing (who has also worked with The Subways, Bruno Mars and Pete Doherty of The Libertines). When brought to our attention, CIVX captured our interest immediately, and very kindly created this session at Avant Studios in California, filmed and edited by Stuart Smith. This is really special for us. Not only is our family of musical uniqulture becoming transatlantic, but this is also our first proper session. Making things happen, they got it just right. DIY par excellence. We hope that you enjoy entrance to this free gig wherever you are. - ZineUK

"Civx experience Coachella like true artist"

CIVX, the Cathedral City-based band that earned an opening slot at Coachella after winning a second-bill position at Tachevah: A Palm Springs Block Party, had to scramble to come up with enough songs to fill their set.
About 100 people attended the 11:25 a.m. set, but some people heard the jam and stuck around to hear some more songs.

"That was cool to see people walking by and stopping," said Dominguez, who played guitar with Sal Gutierrez while Joel Guerrero played drums. "We weren't sure we were going to have enough (material) in the set. So we put together the song on Friday."
The band was added to the Coachella lineup on Wednesday, which was too late to get them a trailer in the artists' village alongside such Sunday performers as Arcade Fire, Beck and Lana Del Rey. The interior of each trailer is custom designed for the artists, so the planning takes months.
But the CIVX band members were thrilled for the opportunity to watch bands throughout the weekend and make friends with other artists, such as the lead singer of the Saturday band, Future Islands.
"It's a great experience," said Gutierrez.
"They've been treating us like true artists," said Guerrero.
"Except for the trailer," added Guitierrez. - Desert sun
