Bio

China Woman is an unsigned indie rock band born out of, and residing, in downtown Santa Ana, CA. The band first came form in fall 2008 when four friends met at one of OC's former music venues The Clinic, a gritty, art-endorsing warehouse turned venue, known to be the one of the main live music hubs in its day. The venue unfortunately closed down late that same year, but the four continued to hang out and regularly attend local shows they had each played at, while involved in former music projects. It wasn’t until around mid-summer 2011 that the four came together and decided to collaborate and start their own indie rock band.

After overcoming the various struggles associated with starting a new band, the members finally cultivated a solid sound around the summer of 2012, inspired by each of the members’ different musical backgrounds and beach city lifestyles. Since inception, the band has played in various showcases, events, bars, venues, and DIY festivals in LA, OC, I.E., and San Diego County areas. The band is growing rapid popularity in the downtown Orange County Music scene and in April of 2014 China Woman, in collaboration with Kilson Street and TDL studios, released their debut album Bravo.

After being featured on episode 12 of the YouTube music channel Kilson Street in June 2013, producers of the show Modesto Briseno and Miguel Briseno, saw potential in the band and initially offered to record a 4-5 song EP. Following up in August, collecting the best of their work from previous years, the band made an 11 track demo with Kilson Street for review. After going over the demo for a few weeks, Kilson Street decided to release a full length 11 track LP. Production on Bravo started later that year in November, and was completed in March 2014. The following month the band held their album release at their hometown in downtown Santa Ana, CA. Modesto Briseno is credited with recording, producing and mastering the album, Andrew Deur for the albums artwork, Ricardo Muniz with providing all lyrics, and China Woman providing all original tracks.

At the moment, the band remains unsigned and is currently hard at work with their former collaborators on recording and releasing a new five track untitled EP that includes their new unreleased single Crystal Clear. The EP is set to be released early spring (March/April) of 2015. In addition, the band is also working diligently on setting up a tour across the pacific west coast to promote last years LP and the soon to be released EP.
