The Coils are not like every other rock band out there. They do drugs, don’t listen to anyone, and stay up late playing kickass shows. Spawning from the nasty steel region of Chicago Illinois, they listen to everything that inspires them from rock to hiphop, metal to jazz. Their sound could be grouped with grunge, however they would rather tell you its just grungy… and jazzy and emotional and LOUD! Drummer Jamel Williams lays the passionate beats down with solidity. Bassist Johnny Cebulski rumbles the walls with swooping low end finesse. And frontman Aristotle Coulopoulos shouts more so than screams while sloppy guitar playing smothers audiences with distortion and dissonance. The bands much anticipated self-titled freshman record, recorded at Red Door Studios with talented engineer Tyler Jones, will be released early in the upcoming year. Keeping true to a DIY approach and an anti-industry mindset, The Coils play music that rocks deep and true in a capacity that anyone who has lived can appreciate and relate with. - Stencil Magazine

“Spawning from the industrial reeking steel ports of N.W. Indiana and the graffiti infested, lead jungle, known well by coroners as the South Side of Chicago. With the combined musical experience of 30 years they will surly make you feel… Like you wanna dance, fight, and overdose on whatever your personal poison is all at the same time! As a power trio the Coils can fill a room with the aid of their low note specialist Johnny Cebulski who always seems to funk up a good time. Their metronome behind the broken beats is none other than jazz guru Jamel Williams. And then there is Aristotle. Very timid backstage, but he becomes the mouth of the group and instantly the center of attention after the first overdriven note. The Coils assault their unsuspecting audience with emotion and devastation leaving them with nothing left but shreds of hope. The intimate words and soulful tones of the band will make you nod your head and secretly burn into your brain so that your left with merch even if you never had to pull out your wallet. The Coils are the act you cannot miss and respectively have a grasp on a life that we all share and relate to. In the end, they are fighting for the lost souls and the proof is at the end of the set when the helpless screams fade away to distorted guitars and cymbals crashing!”
