David Glen Ponce Standards

I sing straight-ahead, traditional Pop and Jazz Standards (what most of us would call "Great American Songbook" selections) with some of Central Indiana's finest Jazz musicians. It's not my career, it's a passionate pursuit outside of work (Day job: I'm a partner and CMO of an 80-unit sports bar chain). I'm good enough at singing these Standards to be asked to sing in small clubs, venues and private events, and people who hear me sing and tell stories about the songs I'm singing are generally delighted and seek me out to know more about my music and life.

Since May of 2019 I've been regularly attending the weekly Monday Night Jazz Jam at the famed Indianapolis landmark The Jazz Kitchen, and am now the moderator of the JK's Monday Night Jam Facebook page. Each week I sing three Standards, and also post comments and take photos of the extraordinary musicians who stop in and share their gifts. Since I started singing at the Monday Night Jam Session, I've learned and performed over 360 Standards and have been thrilled to perform with maybe 100 different musicians. Some of those folks invite me to participate in their gigs and it's GREAT fun.

I'm now "out there" and more available for performing, most recently performing at events with the great guitarist/educator Sandy Williams, who collaborated with me on a recording project, "Someday Songs," which features Standards curated for and dedicated to my 5 granddaughters. I'm not fancy or pretentious, I am wildly enthusiastic about this genre, and I am alllll about making people happy, helping them reminisce, getting them swinging, laughing--even singing along. If you need an accomplished Standards singer who comes prepared and leaves 'em wanting more, you could do worse.
