"New Footwork Album from Hyperdub and Teklife Will Benefit the Late DJ Rashad's Son"

Get ready: a whole slew of new footwork tunes are coming your way. Today, the London-based label Hyperdub announced that it will release a compilation album called Next Life on November 11, 2014. Next Life will be full of a new material from Teklife—the Chicago collective responsible for bringing the frenetic rhythms and manically chopped samples of footwork to the global stage. In a heartwarming twist, all profits from sales will go to Chad, the 9-year-old son of the late DJ Rashad, who passed in April this year after a drug overdose.

The album will feature new tracks from footwork godfathers RP Boo, Traxman, DJ Spinn, Manny and DJ Rashad himself. Teklife's second wave—DJ Earl, Heavee, Taye, Boylan, Phil, Taso, Sirr Tmo, and Tre—will be represented, as will select members of the Teklife family outside Chicago, like Durban, Tripletrain, and DJ Chap (all from the US) and Europe's DJ Paypal, Jackie Dagger and Feloneezy.

This is not the first time that Hyperdub and Teklife have lent each other their mutual support. Hyperdub's 10-year anniversary in New York City was essentially a Teklife lovefest, and this October, the UK label will be bringing over the Chicago crew for their first show in London. Hyperdub also released DJ Rashad's seminal album Double Cup in 2013. - Thump (Vice)

"Mix Up Look Sharp: The Best Mixes Of The Week (Carnival Edition)"

Here at Complex, we understand the grind of listening to the best music each week. There's so much new music uploaded to every single platform, every single day, that following just one of your streams can become a dizzying, life-consuming task. To help you out on at least one front, each and every Friday, our music team will trawl the depths of the internet to bring you the best mixes from the past week. House, hip-hop and bass, grime, trap and techno—it'll all be represented in our picks to get you warmed up for the weekend.

And what a weekend we have ahead of us! With Notting Hill Carnival hitting London on Sunday and Monday, there'll be precious little time for trawling SoundCloud. So let us do all the hard work; click through below and enjoy.

There's a lot of love for the Teklife extended family here at Complex—we've been pretty open about that from early. So it'd be foolish of us to overlook this new mix from DJ Tre. He may not be the most prominent member of the crew but, as this mix resoundingly proves, DJ Tre should never, ever be underestimated. As a founding member of both the Ghetto Teknitianz and Teklife crews, Tre has been instrumental in the development and progression of juke and footwork. This mix is pretty much wall-to-wall Chi-town greats; from Rashad to Manny, Gant-Man and Earl, they're all here. In fact, if you've ever wanted a comprehensive introduction to the city and its mind-boggling sounds this mix is the ideal starting point. - James Keith
