Bio
Cyan Moon is a bossa nova jazz fusion group led by Gianni Aranoff, a saxophonist, flutist, and composer local to the Lehigh Valley. It began as a saxophone and guitar duo playing the traditional bossa nova standards of Antonio Carlos Jobim but has since branched out into a couple different configurations. Today, Cyan Moon typically plays as a trio with saxophone/flute, nylon string guitar, and percussion or as a six-piece bossa nova-jazz-funk fusion group with beautiful Brazilian jazz-inspired original tunes. Cyan Moon released an EP called "Live at the Slop Sink" in 2024, which features a live performance by the acoustic trio. For Musikfest, Cyan Moon would ideally play two shows, one with the smaller acoustic group possibly on Main Street and another with the larger group as part of the jazz at SteelStacks. Cyan Moon has had much success playing locally in the Lehigh Valley, in particular at the IceHouse in Bethlehem. Gianni is part of the IceHouse's Jazz Committee and has organized two "Bossa Nova Dance Nights" there. For this wonderful event, Cyan Moon teamed up with ELY Dance Studio in Allentown to provide dance lessons featuring the classic Brazilian music. Many enjoyed! (Pictures attached). Gianni has also organized a couple "Jazz Fusion Nights" at the IceHouse, which feature his original bossa nova-jazz-funk compositions as played by the band's larger format. Another notable venue includes the Hotel Bethlehem where Cyan Moon has played both the Thursday Night Jazz and the Sunday Brunch. Cyan Moon would love to bring the same energy to Musikfest! With our music, you can imagine yourself sipping drinks on the beach in Rio de Janeiro. Notes on the EPK's music samples: The music provided in the EPK includes several clips from the "Live at the Slopsink" EP (released in 2024). You can listen to the full EP on the group's Bandcamp page. "The Times, They Were Fun*" is one of Gianni's original compositions. The provided recording features Cyan Moon's larger format (sax, guitar, keyboards, bass, drums, and congas) at a recent Jazz Fusion Night.
