Hobbs is one very rare son of the Texas Panhandle. Most such bow-legged individuals are quite content, proud and happy to live out their lives on the windy plains: and deservedly so. They are born Texas Panhandle--anointed by its legendary sunsets and hardpan history. Hobbs was, however, not content. So, with his grandfather's guitar, he scraped, scrapped, and schemed his High Plains self all the way from his particular acre of the Texas Panhandle to the rush and lush of Los Angeles' infinite stream of energy. But he never once considered abandoning the dry intensity of the people and place who made him. The result: a man with severe loyalties, brutal honesty, and a deep quality of thoughtfulness so characteristic of Texas Panhandle people.
