(Apple Valley)– Agio Real Estate, Inc. understands that offering fun, free opportunities for families to gather, listen to live music, visit with friends, and share a meal is an important facet of a thriving community. To keep these opportunities available locally, Agio Real Estate has partnered with the Town of Apple Valley as the Presenting Sponsor of the 2019 Sunset Concert Series.

“Agio Real Estate has a deep passion for culture and community. Our relationship with the Sunset Concert Series reflects a shared commitment to the Town of Apple Valley and the community,” said Kari Leon, Owner/Broker of Agio Real Estate, Inc. “Events like these concerts not only entertain, but work to encourage a sense of community that will have a positive and lasting impact.”

Every Thursday night from June 20 to July 25 residents and visitors can gather at Civic Center Park from 6 to 9 p.m. for music, dancing, food trucks, a beer garden and more during the 13thseason of this popular event.

This award-winning music series traces its roots back to 2003, with a monthly “Jazz Night Street Fair” that featured a car show and live entertainment held in the parking lot of Town Hall.

In 2007, Sunset Concerts launched as an event held once a month from June to September in the newly opened Civic Center Park. There was no electricity, no permanent lighting and portable restrooms were rented for each event. Now, along with year-round lighting and permanent restrooms, the park also provides picnic tables, a playground, a dog-park, fitness equipment, and a walking path that encircles the area.

Today, thanks in part to sponsors like Agio Real Estate, the series has evolved to become the best place to be Thursday nights in the summer and people flock from well-beyond our Town borders to hear bands ranging from southern rock to country and from oldies to ‘80s.

The Sunset Concert Series will kick-off on June 20 with local favorites Phat Cat Swinger and continue Thursdays through July 25. The entertainment line-up for the summer includes:

June 20 – Phat Cat Swinger (Swing)
June 27 – The Who Experience (Rock/Tribute Band)
July 11 – Southern Spirit (Southern Rock)
July 18 – Iron Horse (Classic Rock)
July 25 – Latin Express (Top 40/Latin)
(Note – Live music moves to Brewster Park on July 4 at our annual Freedom Festival.)

The Town of Apple Valley is also grateful to additional key sponsors for their support of special events in Apple Valley including Best, Best & Krieger, Charles Abbott Associates, Apple Valley Choice Energy, High Desert Church Apple Valley, CEMEX, and Armstrong Fairway Insurance. For a complete list of special events partners visit www.AppleValley.org.

Civic Center Park is located at 14999 Dale Evans Parkway across the street from Super Target and the Beyond Gas Station. Parking and admission are free. The park has inclined lawn seating for more than 1,500 people, so concert goers should bring blankets or portable chairs. Apple Valley loves animals, but pets are not allowed in the concert venue. Smoking is prohibited in all Town parks, including our concerts.

Bio

Ironhorse got its start when boyhood friends discovered the magic of making music together. In 1974 the group formed to cover popular rock bands ( Now referred to as “Classic Rock”) and soon graduated from providing entertainment at private parties, school events and park concerts, to hiring themselves out for wedding receptions, corporate events and night clubs in the Inland Empire and Orange County.

As they developed their musicianship and vocals, they also expanded their range to include Top 40 R & B, jazz and country rock.

As it happened, members were also young professionals building careers and raising families. After several years of gigging steadily on weekends, the time came when the Ironhorse project would have to be put on hold . . .

Fast forward to the summer of 2008, when band members came together for a 30-year reunion to play at a neighborhood 4th of July block party. When listeners wanted to know if they’d return the following year the flame was rekindled!

Today, original members Ray Lancy (lead guitarist), Mike Lancy (keyboards) and Jim Lewis (drummer) are joined by Barbara Lewis to re-create the magic they experienced over 40 years ago.

Our full repertoire spans 1940 through today; from Sinatra to Adele; the Beatles to Stevie Wonder; Steely Dan to Steve Miller; Marvin Gaye to Journey; Tim McGraw to Santana. . .

We invite you to come enjoy the best pop music of the last half century and then some!
