"Julielle wants us to take a chance on ourselves with self-realized and empowering debut single, Whiskey Wings"

Setting the tone with an elegant guitar slide and a vibrant alternative country energy, Julielle opens Whiskey Wings with situational prose as she charismatically sings, “Fifteen, passing the bottle of brown, 90 proof, I’m the only girl around, turn it up, hopin’ I can keep it down… Friday night, after a football game, one sip and you never feel the same, once you take off, you can never hit the ground…”

The opus expands into an ode to taking chances. Speaking on the release, Julielle confesses, “Whiskey Wings is about doing things for the first time and how some things change your life forever.”

The star continues with reference to her debut, “The song was inspired by a nostalgic conversation I was having with some friends while sharing stories about the first time we got drunk with our friends (maybe sometimes when we weren’t supposed to).”

“Getting your “whiskey wings” is that in a literal sense, but also metaphorical for doing anything for the first time. Thought it would be fitting to put it out as my debut single, releasing music as a solo artist for the first time, getting my “first release” wings!”, concludes the emerging artist from Nashville.

Julielle cites Lainey Wilson, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Larkin Poe, Terri Clark, Lake Street Dive, The Steeldrivers, Nikki Lane, Bonnie Raitt, Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills and Nash, Jim Lauderdale, and Miranda Lambert as some of her influences, although there is no doubt that the emerging talent is creating a universe of her own!

"Julielle’s Debut Single ‘Whiskey Wings’ is a Knockout"

Yup…I’m slightly obsessed with the current batch of music coming out of Nashville, Tennessee. Having said that, I’m pretty sure you’ll join me in hailing singer/songwriter Julielle’s debut single ‘Whiskey Wings’ as an instant success. Released just a few days ago, the tune already has over 10,000 plays on Spotify, and for good reason. Working alongside some exceptionally talented session musicians, Julielle and Co have crafted a soulful, country-infused, rock ‘n’ roll classic. The steel guitar brings warmth and depth to proceedings, while the artist’s silvery and sensuous vocals draw you straight in.

The track was inspired by a conversation Julielle had had with friends, as they nostalgically reminisced about getting drunk for the first time. “Getting your ‘Whiskey Wings’ is that in a literal sense,” she says. “But also metaphorically for doing anything for the first time”. Could she have chosen a song more fitting to release as her first?

Influenced by a wide range of artists; Lainey Wilson, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, Bonnie Raitt, and Joni Mitchell to mention just a few, Julielle has found her sound. Sure, she’s a newcomer to the scene, but a ridiculously exciting one that I have no doubt we’ll be hearing a lot more from.

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Whiskey Wings’ on Spotify now: - Jeremy Bregman
