TORONTO, CANADA – A new EP from Toronto-based artist, KHNG, is the perfect upbeat, Island vibe needed during a tough year. “Coronation” is KHNG’s first project, which consists of 6 songs, executive produced by Emtee Cup Gang and Execution Records, KHNG’s own label. This rising musician has already established himself as an international artist, and the new EP is set to take that even further with songs that celebrate party vibes inspired by KHNG’s Guyanese culture and Caribana, which is celebrated every year in Toronto.
“This project dives deep into my roots and my personality, it has a very upbeat vibe,” KHNG said. “I incorporated the carnival theme which is a big thing in my culture and since we couldn’t celebrate Caribana this year, I decided to bring a little bit of that energy and vibes to the people.”
Released on Aug. 13, the EP taps into the signature sound of this fast-rising artist who pairs Island vibes with Hip Hop for a unique blend that works perfectly with his original flow. This project also features a bit more vocals from KHNG, especially on the two breakout singles “Dive In” and “No Problems.”
With “Dive In,” KHNG expresses a personal experience. “It’s a situation where sometimes you know better – but still keep doing the same things over and over and you can’t help it,” he said. “I was nervous about releasing this song. This was the first single off the project and I knew I needed to come strong. I think the song took a lot of people by surprise – they’ve never seen that side of me.”
The second single, “No Problems,” has more of a playful vibe and is fully equipped with its own quarantine music video. “The song is perfect for today’s tumultuous cultural climate in that it encourages listeners to throw away life’s worries and just enjoy the moment.”
“The team had a blast recording this and we recorded a few parts in falsetto, which is the first time I’ve ever taken that risk too!”

Abdool Khanoo, known as KHNG, is a multi-talented, Toronto Recording Artist and Entertainer. Originally from Suriname, South America, KHNG migrated to Canada in 2005 at age 13. It was then that KHNG was exposed to a new world that was very different from his cultural experiences and Dutch roots. Fortunately he had an outlet in music that offered him comfort as he transitioned to his new home.
At the age of 9, KHNG had demonstrated his interest in music when he learnt to play the drums and eventually joined a local church band. After KHNG moved to Canada, he naturally gravitated towards playing the drums in his highschool music class. As the years passed, his fondness of music and instruments transformed, prompting KHNG to explore other avenues of art and expression.
KHNG launched his musical career in 2015, releasing his first mixtape titled, ‘EveryTing Loud.’ This was his first completed mixed and mastered project consisting of 15 songs, 3 videos, with several live, sold-out, performances. The mixtape quickly generated a buzz in the GTA, earning him a spot amongst Toronto’s new talent. After officially rebranding as ‘KHNG’ in the summer of 2018, KHNG graced his fans with multiple singles that were released on all streaming platforms, showcasing a entirely new sound.
KHNG’s content and quality soared to new heights after the release of his first single ‘Smokin Love.’ Fans were pleasantly surprised by KHNG’s vocal range and quickly drifted to-wards this new sound. With a bit of an R&B flare and Hip-Hop influence, KHNG managed to incorporate his culture into his sound, creating his own, unique style.
In 2019, after recording in Miami at the legendary recording studio, The Hit Factory, KHNG began working on his next musical project, an EP consisting of 6 catchy tunes. The first single off of his highly anticipated EP , ‘Dive In’, captured fans with its upbeat vibe, generating over 70K streams worldwide within a few weeks of its release. With that response, it is ex-pected that KHNG’s new EP, called Coronation, is definitely about to make waves in the city of Toronto.
With fan bases in Fiji, Germany, USA, Canada and the Caribbean, this EP is certain to be heard globally. KHNG continues to create new content and better his craft each day. It was hinted that another project may currently be in the works. Although a release date wasn’t confirmed, it’s certain that KHNG will continue to grow as an Artist and will deliver quality music to his fans.
