"Music Monday: Lilly Moss (née Hercik)"

She got her start in music at the age of 11, and now, at only 17, she's already made quite a name for herself!

WFMZ's Eve Russo welcomed Bethlehem's own Lilly Hercik to 69 News at Sunrise for Music Monday. - WFMZ Music Monday

"Daily Inspiration: Meet Lilly Moss (née Hercik)"

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lilly Moss (née Hercik)

Hi Lilly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I started taking voice lessons when I was 11 and shortly after began piano lessons.

With encouragement from family and friends, I performed for the first time at a local winter festival at the end of 2021. Since then I have been performing locally and pursuing my love for music in the community and working to turn it into a career.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has definitely been a learning experience that I have been trying to navigate over the past year but everything good always has a few bumps in the road however they ultimately are worth it and help to shape me into the artist I am today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a 17-year-old singer/songwriter who enjoys singing in country and indie genres. What sets me apart is the tone of my voice and songwriting abilities which both create a mature sound that is well beyond my years. What I am most proud of is the opportunities I have in front of me.

It has been just over a year and I am currently in the studio working to produce my first EP with amazing producers and engineers along with having the guidance of a seasoned manager to help me navigate the music business.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
You can find my music on Spotify as well as all streaming platforms by typing in Lilly Moss Hercik to get updates and stay tuned on my journey you can follow me on my linked social media.

"Celebration of music hits home - literally - during Porch Fest on Easton's College Hill"

Lilly Moss's (nee Hercik) voice and piano echoed through Easton's College Hill.

She was one of 45 performers taking part in the neighborhood's fourth Porch Fest featuring musicians from across the area on 26 porches.

"It's a lot of fun; it's such a great environment just for all musicians to get a little bit of exposure and everything," said Moss (Hercik). For Moss (Hercik), it was her first time performing at what has become a tradition and she said events like this help her gain more listeners.

"Especially for my accounts on Spotify, Apple Music, like it gains a lot of listeners and just people in general for my music," said Moss (Hercik).

Kim Kmetz is the mastermind behind it all.

She said she got the idea for porch fest after attending a similar event in Ithaca, New York years ago.

After talking with the right people, she was able to make it a reality here.

"Now it's become a tradition that everyone looks forward to," said Kmetz.

It is a tradition that keeps Erin Chudolij coming back, one she said brings her family together with good friends and good music close to home.

"It's great. It's so nice to have that sense of community, especially after the past two years it's good to have everyone hanging out and spending time together," said Chudolij.

Kmetz said this year is the largest the Fest has ever been.

"This for me is what community and living on College Hill and living in Easton is all about," said Kmetz. - WFMZ

"GETTING TO KNOW LILLY MOSS, TALENTED SINGER-SONGWRITER HAILING FROM EASTON, PENNSYLVANIA"

LLTM: What other genre or genres would you possibly be interested in performing in the future?

Lilly: Growing up, my parents always had music on in our home and they didn’t miss a chance to take my sister and me to a live concert. I was just three years old when I saw Taylor Swift open for Rascal Flatts, and five when I saw her open for Keith Urban! Country is naturally a part of who I am but I really do love, and listen to, all music genres. Other genres that I gravitate to are Pop, Indie, and Folk … but I’ve been known to bust out a fun rap without warning.
LLTM: Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and can we hear any similarities in your sound?
Lilly: My voice has been described as a cross between Adele and Stevie Nicks, who happen to be two of my biggest musical inspirations – others include Billie Eilish, Chris Stapleton, and Jason Isbell.
LLTM: What is one thing you wish you could have told your younger self?
Lilly: One thing I wish I could tell my younger self is to “believe in yourself.” For a long time, I thought that the level of my vocal talent was overexaggerated by family and friends because they simply had to support me. Once I started performing in public, I received positive feedback from complete strangers that really took me by surprise. It was then that I thought that maybe I do have real talent. If I had had that confidence earlier, I may have focused more on my music instead of trying out for soccer and volleyball, with my “two left feet.”
LLTM: What do you hope the fans get from your music?
Lilly: Overall, I want my fans to get pure enjoyment from my music. Having lyrics they can relate to, and varying rhythms that move them to sing or dance, or just relax and unwind. I hope my music is a fit for all moods.
LLTM: Do you feel there is any added pressure to being a Solo Artist compared to being a member of a band?
Lilly: I don’t know … what I don’t know! I’ve always been a solo act but I would love to have a full band with me. I guess there is some additional pressure being a solo artist since it’s just me up on that stage but over the years I have grown extremely comfortable with the spotlight.
LLTM: As an artist, what do you look forward to the most, performing a life show or recording a new album?
Lilly: Both are very exciting processes! However, I love to perform live, seeing bright faces, laughter, and people really engaged in my music is such a great feeling.
LLTM: Of all of your singles, which one are you the most proud of and why?

Lilly: I am most proud of my recent single Cowgirls Don’t Cry, however, I really do love all of my songs. Cowgirls Don’t Cry caters more towards the country genre than my other singles and it can really pull on the emotions of the listener. It’s just a very relatable and well constructed song. I’m very proud of it.
LLTM: If you had to give up something for 30 days to do a collaboration with any artist, what would you give up and who would you do a collaboration with?
Lilly: I always joke that I would sell my left kidney to see Adele live in concert. But since that’s not within reason, or even legal, I would totally give up my phone for 30 days to do a collaboration with Adele.
LLTM: Has the writing or recording process begun and if so, when can the fans expect it to be released?
Lilly: I’ve released three singles since July of this year and I’ve been amazed watching the stream counts climb! When I hit 1,000 streams, I was blown away! Now streaming six figures and I’m speechless! I am always in the writing process – it’s one of my favorite pastimes – and while not all of my songs make it to the recording studio, the time spent writing is therapeutic for me. But sometimes a song just flows so easily, I can’t wait to share it with my team at the studio. My next release will be my debut EP that will hopefully be out just in time for the holidays.
LLTM: What does the touring or live show schedule look like for the remainder of 2023? What are the plans for 2024?
Lilly: My live show schedule rounds out 2023 with some new venues, and some favorite venues, all here in my home state of PA. My schedule can be found on my website and on BandsInTown.com. As for 2024, the sky’s the limit! Follow me on social to find out where I’m headed … but if you don’t hear from me for 30 days, I just might be fulfilling that dream of collaborating with Adele. Fun Fact: We share the same birthday!

Bio

With a refreshing and honest voice some have described as a cross between Adele and Stevie Nicks, Lilly Moss is a rising artist with a sound as unique as her story. Born and raised in Bethlehem, PA, music has always been an important part of Lilly’s life, from dancing on her hospital bed at age three to performing live today. Drawing inspiration from some of the most talented music icons like Chris Stapleton, Jason Isbell, Billie Eilish, and Adele, Lilly began writing music at the young age of 16 while exploring a variety of genres and recording with Grammy-nominated producer/mixer, Dan Malsch of Soundmine Recording Studios.

In 2023, Lilly's first original songs “SECRET,” “KNEES,” and “Cowgirls Don't Cry” were released and featured on editorial and algorithmic playlists across DSPs, collecting over a quarter million streams to date. Following up on those successful singles, Lilly is back in the studio putting the finishing touches on her debut country album set to be released in Summer 2024.

As for Lilly’s unique story … yes, her “stage” was a hospital bed because her early years were spent fighting Leukemia, and music was her escape. It was dancing to Hannah Montana with her sister that made them feel like “normal” kids. And it was a photo of when she met Taylor Swift that made the “dreams” collage at the children’s hospital.

This year, Lilly was honored to perform for a sold-out crowd at the Pediatric Cancer Foundation’s Hearts of Gold Gala, where her mosaic artwork brought a winning bid of $20,000 for the foundation. She also performed at the legendary Sherman Theater Showcase as a special guest of Hayes Warner, named one of PEOPLE’s Emerging Artists to Watch 2023.

Without a doubt, music is Lilly’s true passion, escape, and inspiration. As a child, Lilly persevered against all odds. It’s that strength and determination, along with her abundance of creativity, that continues to drive her to pursue her musical career.

Fun Fact: Lilly and Adele share the same birthday, May 5th, but only Lilly can claim 05.05.05 as her own.
