"Louise Warren by Kasey Stewart"

Louise is a creative young woman, whom I got the chance of meeting last week. She was all smiles as she sat down for the interview. You can hear the sweetness in her voice as she so willingly answered all of my question about her music and inspiration for pouring her heart out in front of a crowd. She started singing in the 3rd grade when she entered a talent show at her elementary school, singing James Brown’s “I Feel Good”, Louise also participated in Church chorus. You can find the 20 year old drinking any kind of tea, but, “ask me again this summer”, she said, “and I can name an alcoholic drink” she laughed.

As a child, Louise was homeschooled and now attends Brigham Young University taking classes online so she can “devote more time to music”. Louise writes all of her own music, with “only a couple of covers up my sleeve” she said. As a child, she began exploring songwriting, and felt that she had “the childlike freedom to write her own work and not judge herself, it’s easier to write at a young age. Anyone can do it if you remove that judgement” she said. She describes songwriting as a “journaling process” writing about “ whatever is happening in her life. It’s the typical experiences of a 20 year old’s thoughts on life, love, happiness, and risk taking… and sometimes even making fun of those things.”

Louise plays guitar and a little piano, and describes her music as “Songwriter or Indie Pop, it mostly depends on the songs whether it’s pop or rock”, she said, struggling to find the correct genre to imprison her music in, she went on to say “it’s just some genuine pop and happy music.” Her major influences are The Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Fiona Apple “I grew up with a lot of British and 60’s music and a few 80’s bands” she said. Her advice for those musicians who want to do what she does is “Just go for it. The hardest step is putting your heart out there. Writing music is like giving people a key to your diary and allowing them to judge it. Also, make good friends,” she said, “network is key because they will help you along the way.” It was such a pleasure meeting Louise and hearing her story of how she began and hearing the wisdom she’s gained along the ride. You can check her out on reverbnation.com/louisewarren, orFacebook she said “is a good way to keep up with me.” She is also working on a domain name and getting a studio lined up to record an album.” Louise so gratefully added that she is “really happy to be a part of this event” the Big Bird Bash. She is certainly a driven young woman and true inspiration.

Bio

Louise Warren is a talented singer and songwriter from Macon, Georgia. Her sound is very personal and direct, tipping the hat off to retro pop melodies and heartfelt lyrics.

Louise channels the freedom and poetry of the best music, ranging from the 60s to the 90s and beyond - From The Kinks to The Beatles, down to Fiona Apple, Ani DiFranco, and many others! Her sound has a very intimate and charming tone. However, she is also able to ignite her songs with the spark of catchy melodies and iconic wordplay!

Recently, she released a full-length debut album titled “Lavender Sound,” which will be followed next year by a new EP, “Surrender.” The EP is the artist’s prize for earning the first place at a music competition known as “Music 4 Macy,” which raises money for the Macy Easom Cancer Research Foundation.
